Hall devices having an active area of about (500 nm)(2) are fabricated by focused electron-beam-induced deposition. The deposited material consists of cobalt nanoparticles in a carbonaceous matrix. The realized devices have, at room temperature, a current ...

Hall effect based Teslameters/Gaussmeters measure DC and AC magnetic flux densities in the range from a few mu T to about 30 T. For accurate measurement a 3-axis Hall probe is applied with small magnetic field sensitive volume (MFSV) of 100 mu m x 10 mu m ...

Single-electron bipolar avalanche transistors (SEBATs) enable current sensing by electron counting at room temperature. Here, differential SEBAT circuits combining the functions of amplification and analog-to-digital (A/D) conversion are proposed and characterized for two applications: Low-current AID conversion and differential voltage A/D conversion. Charge detection efficiencies in the order of 30% are reached, allowing for the direct A/D conversion of currents in the 10(-13) A range. An equivalent of th

We describe a device compatible with CMOS technology, which permits to detect a single charge by multiplying it to an easily measurable level. The device is a bipolar transistor optimized for the operation in the Geiger avalanche mode. A single electron, i ...

We present the design, fabrication and test of high-Q factor radiofrequency planar microcoils for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy in small volume samples. The coils are fabricated on glass wafers using high-aspect ratio SU-8 photoepoxy and copper electroplating. On-wafer electrical characterization shows quality factors up to 40 at 800 MHz. A 500 μm diameter microcoil with a measured quality factor of 24 at 300 MHz is mounted on a printed circuit board and electrically contacted using aluminum

In this paper we report on a 32×32 optical imager based on single photon avalanche diodes integrated in CMOS technology. The maximum measured dynamic range is 120dB and the minimum noise equivalent intensity is 1.3×-3lx. The minimum integration time per pi ...

In this paper, we present a low-power, two-axis fluxgate magnetometer. The planar sensor is integrated in a standard CMOS process, which provides metal layers for the coils and electronics for the signal extraction and processing. The ferromagnetic core is ...

We present an open-loop CMOS current transducer without magnetic core consisting of a bus bar and a CMOS integrated magnetic sensor. The magnetic sensor is a combination of a circular vertical Hall device for low-frequency range and a pick-up coil for high-frequency range. The temperature cross-sensitivity of the Hall device is removed by measuring the angle of the magnetic field vector rather than its magnitude. The first measurement results show nonlinearity less than 1.5 % over 0-150 A range, wide dynami

In this paper,we present an inductive proximity sensor with fully integrated electronics. The sensor with the compact hybrid configuration is composed of a sensing flat coil and an integrated electronic interface. We focused during the development on the temperature stability and robustness of the sensor by keeping its low-fabrication cost. The sensor exhibits a longitudinal resolution of 120 nm for an aluminum target position up to 500um from the sensing coil with the side size of 3.5 mm. The temperature d

We present a new two-axis fluxgate magnetometer fully integrated in CMOS technology. The magnetometer exhibits excellent sensitivity of 2700 V/T and the magnetic equivalent noise spectral density of 6nT/√Hz at 1 Hz. The total power consumption is as low as 35 m W from the single 5 V power supply. The low noise characteristic is obtained using the combination of good magnetic . material properties and electronic post-modulation technique to reduce the noise coming from CMOS electronic part.

A new compact 2D planar fluxgate sensor using a ferromagnetic amorphous metal core is described. The fluxgate sensor consists of two orthogonal planar metallic coils and a ring shaped amorphous magnetic ribbon mounted on a PCB substrate. Each planar coil is used alternatively as excitation or as pick-up coil. An electronic interface drives alternatively the two coils and performs a feedback on each sensing coil in order to compensate for the two measured magnetic field omponents. The sensing element has a m

Series connected (stacked) CMOS vertical Hall devices were analyzed on the basis of performance of a single five contacts device biased at different common mode voltages with respect to the substrate. The uneven influence of junction field effect on residu ...

In this paper, we present the giant-magneto-impedance (GMI) effect in a microfabricated closed Permalloy core which surrounds a copper excitation rod. We measured a 90% change in the inductance value of the device for a sinusoidal excitation at 500 kHz in a 4.5mT range. The change in the device resistance is negligible for excitation frequencies below 1 MHz, and goes above 14% for 30 MHz excitation. Magnetic hysteresis of the device inductance is studied and improved by applying periodic “degauss” pulses du

In this work we developed a home-made LOngitudinally Detected Electron Spin Resonance (LODESR) spectrometer based on a microsize Hall sensor. A coplanar waveguide (CPW)-resonator is used to induce microwave-excitation on the sample at 14 GHz. We used InSb ...
