Iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) were synthesized by a novel aqueous synthesis route which combines co-precipitation (CP) and hydrothermal (HT) treatment, termed CP + HT, and compared with IONPs obtained by the standard CP method. Properties of both types ...

In this work, we present a short summary of the synthesis and characterization of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles and their behavior in vitro and in vivo. Therefore, we have used various characterization techniques to deduce the physical particl ...

In biological environments, the surface of nanoparticles (NPs) are modified by protein corona (PC) that determines their biological behavior. Unfortunately, in vitro tests still give different PC than in vivo tests causing in vitro-in vivo discrepancy; hen ...

Substrates with 1-dimensional nanosize grooves were prepared using extreme-ultraviolet interference lithography (EUV-IL), wherein gold nanoparticles were self-assembled to form 1-dimensional structures. To measure the electrical properties of gold nanopart ...

Aim: Ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (USPIO-NPs) are under development for imaging and drug delivery; however, their interaction with human blood brain barrier models is not known. Materials & Methods: The uptake, reactive oxygen spec ...

Nanotechnology is a rapidly expanding and highly promising new technology with many different fields of application. Consequently, the investigation of engineered nanoparticles in biological systems is steadily increasing. Questions about the safety of suc ...

NOVELTY - Production of a component (23) coated with a heat protection layer (21) and having a high thermal load capacity comprises applying an adhesion layer (22) containing aluminum on the surface of the component, and applying the heat protection layer on the adhesion layer. A thin auxiliary layer (24) made from nano-crystalline alpha-Al2O3 is formed on the adhesion layer before the heat protection layer is applied. USE - Used in the production of gas turbines. ADVANTAGE - The component has a long servic

Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) are used in many biological applications, which necessitate intracellular targeting. Here, we investigate intracellular localization and gene expression in HeLa cells after treatment with functionalized S ...

Recently, functionalized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) have been utilized for protein separation and therapeutic delivery of DNA and drugs. The development of new methods and tools for the targeting and identification of specific biom ...

Many potential applications in nanotechnology require virtually defect-free arrays of nanometre-scale particles over large areas. Guided self-assembly of colloidal particles on patterned templates has been shown to produce ordered arrays of colloidal parti ...

A new electrically conductive photosensitive composite resist has been formulated and used to build microcomponents. This composite material is based on the SU-8 photopolymer, an insulating negative-tone photoresist, in which silver nano-particles have been dispersed to enhance the electrical properties of the polymer. The properties of this new photosensitive composite have been characterized by optical and electrical measurements. The patterned composite structures can be obtained for a wide range of valu

Fabrication conditions to obtain dense electrolyte double layers on a porous micro-tubular cathode substrate were investigated. Porous tubes of a nickelate material, Nd1.95NiO4 + δ, were fabricated by cold-isostatic pressing (CIP) and sintering. Thin films ...

Much interest has been generated in the fabrication of colloidal crystals from suspensions because of the promise of photonic band gap applications. However, since the case of small, nonsedimenting colloidal particles indeed remains rather rarely treated, ...

Functional materials are crucial to meet today's societal challenges and needs, such as the transition towards low carbon energy production to reduce climate change, renewable energies and green economy, clean mobility and improved communication. In order ...

A novel, rapid and reproducible method to synthesize functionalized magnetic beads with an original shape is presented. By coating Fe2O3 nanoparticles with PVA, it was possible to tune the size, the number of iron oxide nanoparticles encapsulated and the o ...

This work describes the synthesis of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)-coated Ag@SiO2 core-shell particles by conducting a Surface-Initiated Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization (SI-ATRP). Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were first prepared by the polyol synth ...

The detection of superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) in synoviocytes is reported. Synoviocytes were incubated for 2, 12, 24 and 48 h with 1.5 mg/ml of PVA coated SPION under the influence of magnets (12 h). Particles were well tolerated by t ...

We performed particle size and particle size distribution measurements for L-cysteine-stabilized ZnS/Mn nanoparticles in the size region below 10 nm. For this we applied transmission electron microscopy (TEM), analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC), dynamic ...

Two complementary topics are discussed: (i) the continuous production of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and (ii) the measurement of reaction yield by X-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy (XANES). The continuous polyol synthesis of AgNPs in grams amount an ...
