Dye-sensitized solar cells have gained widespread attention in recent years because of their low production costs, ease of fabrication and tunable optical properties, such as colour and transparency. Here, we report a molecularly engineered porphyrin dye, ...

Many candidate materials for photoelectrochemical water splitting will be better employed by decoupling optical absorption from carrier transport. A promising strategy is to use multiple thin absorber layers supported on transparent, conducting materials; ...

The family of solution-processed tin-based perovskites is demonstrated as a new and superior near-infrared gain medium. Due to the large electron-hole bimolecular recombination associated with tin and the reduced trap density with SnF2 treatment, these lea ...

Isomerization of a neutral bis-cyclometalated iridium(III) complex has been observed for the first time during the preparation of vacuum-processed organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) and reproduced in solution. Isolation of the isomer revealed a cis org ...

Layered hybrid perovskites comprising adamantyl spacer (A) cations based on the A(2)FA(n-1)Pb(n)I(3n+1)(n= 1-3, FA = formamidinium) compositions have recently been shown to act as promising materials for photovoltaic applications. While the corresponding p ...

Two novel symmetrical blue squaraine sensitizers were synthesized, which exhibit panchromatic light harvesting and a record efficiency over 6% with J(sc) exceeding 14 mA cm(-2), and V-oc over 620 mV under 1 sun. Their color, low cost, easiness of synthesis ...

Operando spectroelectrochemical analysis is used to determine the water oxidation reaction kinetics for hematite photoanodes prepared using four different synthetic procedures. While these photoanodes exhibit very different current/voltage performance, the ...

We report all solid-state nanostructured inorganic-organic heterojuncuon solar cells fabricated by depositing Sb2S3 and poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) on the surface of a mesoporous TiO2 layer, where Sb2S3 acts as an absorbing semiconductor and P3HT acts as ...

The effect of Cs-incorporated NiOx on perovskite solar cells with an inverted structure was investigated, where NiOx and PCBM were used as selective contacts for holes and electrons, respectively. It was found that the generation of an Ni phase in an NiOx ...

TiO2 nanorod arrays were prepared on top of a transparent conductive glass substrate covered with a thin TiO2 compact layer. Solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (SSDSCs) were fabricated using these structured TiO2 films sensitized with C106 dye as a pho ...

ABX(3)-type organic lead halide perovskites currently attract broad attention as light harvesters for solar cells due to their high power conversion efficiency (PCE). Mixtures of formamidinium (FA) with methylammonium (MA) as A-cations show currently the b ...

The instability of perovskite solar cells is one of the major bottlenecks to their industrialization, and understanding exact degradation mechanisms at the atomic-level in perovskite absorber layers is a crucial step in improving long-term stability. Among environmental factors, light-induced degradation obviously plays a particularly important role for solar cells. Here, we determine the degradation products and kinetics of scraped thin-film samples of methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI3) and formamidinium

We reported herein a facile and scalable preparation process for MoS2-decorated ZnxCd1-xS hybrid photocatalysts for hydrogen generation. ZnxCd1-xS nanopowder was first prepared from commercially available precursors employing a solution based process. MoS2 ...

A widely used component of high-efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs) is the molecular hole-transport material (HTM) spiro-OMeTAD. This organic solid needs to be p-doped to acquire sufficient hole conductivity. However, the conventional doping method us ...

Cobalt-based electrolytes are highly tunable and have pushed the limits of dye-sensitized solar cells, enabling higher open-circuit voltages and new record efficiencies. However, the performance of these electrolytes and a range of other electrolytes suffe ...

The present invention provides novel dyes for dye sensitized photovoltaic conversion devices. The dyes contain novel anchoring ligands, which have a vinyl or phenylethenyl moiety incorporated in the anchoring bipyridine. Such dyes exhibit an increased mola ...

A complete system for cleavage of water by light (250‐W lamp) comprises the catalysts Pt and RuO2 and the sensitizer Ru(bpy) as well as the acceptor methylviologen (MV2+). 150 ml of solution gave 0.6 ml of H2 and 0.3 ml of O2 in h.

The electron transport layer (ETL) is a crucial component of perovskite solar cells (PSCs) as it greatly influences their photovoltaic performance. Among various currently used ETL materials, SnO₂ stands out due to its unique advantages, including low‐temp ...
