Nanostructured TiO2 hollow fibers have been prepared using natural cellulose fibers as a template. This cheap and easily processed material was used to produce highly porous photoanodes incorporated in dye-sensitized solar cells and exhibited remarkably en ...

The harvesting of sunlight by a photoelectrochemical (PEC) cell to split water into hydrogen and oxygen is an attractive strategy to store solar energy in the form of chemical bonds. The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) remains a bottleneck for the developm ...

Highly ordered, vertically oriented TiO2 nanotube arrays were prepared by potentiostatic anodization of titanium on FTO-coated glass substrate and for the first time successfully applied in the fabrication of solid-state dye sensitized solar cells (SSDSCs) ...

Hybrid perovskites stand out as one of the leading materials in the new generation of photovoltaics. Their stability under operating conditions, however, remains an ongoing challenge. In particular, aging at the interface with the charge transport material ...

We introduce a simple solution-based strategy to decouple morphological and functional effects of annealing nanostructured, porous electrodes by encapsulation with a SiO2 confinement scaffold before high temperature treatment We demonstrate the effectivene ...

Investigations of blue phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) based on [Ir(2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)pyridine)(2)(picolinate)] (FIrPic) have pointed to the cleavage of the picolinate as a possible reason for device instability. We reproduced the ...

The efficiency of a photovoltaic device is limited by the portion of solar energy that can be captured. We discuss how to measure the optical properties of the various layers in solid-state dye-sensitized solar cells (SDSC). We use spectroscopic ellipsomet ...

Its lower bandgap makes formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI(3)) a more suitable candidate for single-junction solar cells than pure methylammonium lead iodide (MAPbI(3)). However, its structural and thermodynamic stability is improved by introducing a signifi ...

We designed and synthesized two new zinc porphyrin dyes for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Subtle molecular structural variation in the dyes significantly influenced the performance of the DSC devices. By utilizing these dyes in combination with a coba ...

A novel, highly blue luminescent molecule containing donor and acceptor groups, 4,4 prime -di-(2-(2,5-dimethoxyphenyl)ethenyl)-2,2 prime -bipyridine, that shows photoluminescence emission at 450 nm with 43% quantum yield is designed and synthesized. Time d ...

In the past few years, organic-inorganic halide perovskites have rapidly emerged as promising materials for photovoltaic applications, but simultaneously achieving high performance and long-term stability has proved challenging. Here, we show a one-step so ...

An overview of a collaborative experimental and theoretical effort toward efficient hydrogen production via photoelectrochemical splitting of water into di-hydrogen and di-oxygen is presented here. We present state-of-the-art experimental studies using hem ...

A phenomenally high molar extinction coefficient heteroleptic ruthenium(II) complex [Ru(4,4′-carboxylic acid-2,2′- bipyridine)(4,4′-(4-{4-methyl-2,5-bis[3-methylbutoxy]styryl}-2,5-bis[3- methylbutoxy]-2,2′-bipyridine)(NCS)2] (DCSC13) was synthesized by inco ...

Organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite materials, such as formamidinium lead iodide (FAPbI3), are among the most promising emerging photovoltaic materials. However, the spontaneous phase transition from the photoactive perovskite phase to an inactive non-pero ...

Novel unsym. org. sensitizers comprising donor, electron-conducting and anchoring groups were engineered at a mol. level and synthesized for sensitization of mesoscopic TiO2 injection solar cells. The unsym. org. sensitizers 3-(5-(4-(diphenylamino)styryl)t ...

By applying a multitude of experimental techniques including H-1, N-14, Pb-207 NMR and I-127 NMR/NQR, tracer diffusion, reaction cell and doping experiments, as well as stoichiometric variation, conductivity, and polarization experiments, iodine ions are u ...

Three classes (carbides, nitrides and oxides) of nanoscaled early-transition-metal catalysts have been proposed to replace the expensive Pt catalyst as counter electrodes (CEs) in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs). Of these catalysts, Cr3C2, CrN, VC(N), VN ...

The photodissociation of water into hydrogen gas is mediated by a catalytic dispersion of fine metal particles. This dispersion is stabilized by polymers of alkylene glycols which are adsorptive to said particles and which act as protective agents in solution.

The dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) is one of the Most promising photovoltaic technologies with potential of low cost, light weight, and good flexibility. The practical application of DSSCs requires further improvement in power conversion efficiency and l ...
