Protein A-coated magnetic beads (0.3 μm) have been trapped in a small portion of a neutrally coated capillary (50 μm id). Anti-β-lactoglobulin (β-LG) antibodies have then been immobilized on the beads through strong affinity with protein A to subsequently ...

Biphasic electrospray ionization (BESI) mass spectrometry is achieved by using a dual-channel microsprayer, where channels filled with different immiscible phases meet at the Taylor cone. Two types of interfacial complexation reactions have been studied: t ...

Purification and desalting of protein and peptide samples by a three-well OFFGEL electrophoresis with immobilized ultra narrow pH gradient gels is proposed as a fast preparative strategy for proteomics. The gist of this strategy is to separate the proteins ...

Single metal ion-phospholipid complexes are observed in biphasic electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (BESI-MS) using a dual-channel microsprayer. Such a microsprayer makes it possible to put into contact two immiscible liquids within the Taylor cone. ...

We use sum-frequency generation spectroscopy (SFG) in the infrared 2800–3000 cm−1 spectral range and UV–vis spectroscopy (transmission) in the 450–650 nm spectral range in order to characterize vibrational and electronic properties of various interfaces co ...

The diprotonated form of a fluorinated free base porphyrin, namely 5-(p-aminophenyl)-10,15,20-tris(pentafluorophenyl)porphyrin (H(2)FAP), can catalyze the reduction of oxygen by a weak electron donor, namely ferrocene (Fc). At a water/1,2-dichloroethane in ...

The on-line electrochemical tagging (EC-tagging) of cysteine residues in proteins during mass spectrometry is studied to probe the cysteine environment. Benzoquinone probes electrogenerated at a microspray electrode react with the thiol functions of the pr ...

Excitation of the weak electron donor decamethylosmocene on illumination with white light produces an excited-state species capable of reducing organically solubilized protons under biphasic conditions. Insight into the mechanism and kinetics of light-driv ...

A device, method and kit for the electrophoretic separation and purification of charged and neutral compounds in an analyte solution. The device comprises a chamber (1), at least one wall of which is composed of a chemical buffering system (4). A potential difference is applied across the buffering system, resulting in the charged and neutral compounds being differentially separated by extraction of the charged compounds into the buffering system. The device also comprises means for collecting the separated

Amino-functionalized macroporous silica foam (NH2-MOSF) has been developed as a host reactor to realize highly efficient proteolysis in acidic solutions where normal tryptic reactions cannot occur. The digestion protocol consists simply of adding the funct ...

Silicon and Silicon carbide particles have been investigated by the mean of infrared (IR) spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to establish their surface states. The results of this research are based on the estimation of the area under ...

diagram of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphine (H2TPP) at the water|1,2-dichloroethane interface using a simple Born solvation model. This zone diagram shows under which form this porphyrin is present, i.e. neutral, monoprotonated or diprotonated, and ...

The concept of artificial photosynthesis at a polarised liquid membrane is presented. It includes two photosystems, one at each interface for the hydrogen and oxygen evolution respectively. Both reactions involve proton coupled electron transfer reactions, ...

The present invention describes an adhesive tape stripping transfer method for quick and non-invasive diagnosis of skin diseases by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry analysis. Cells from the epidermis layer of a suspicious skin area of a patient are collected us ...

Tyrosine nitration, often observed during neurodegenerative disorders under nitrative stress, is usually considered to be induced chemically either by nitric oxide and oxygen forming nitrogen dioxide or by the decomposition of peroxynitrite. It can also be ...

The role of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrinatocobalt(II) ([Co-(tpp)]) as a catalyst on molecular oxygen (O2) reduction by ferrocene (Fc) and its two derivatives, 1,1’-di-methylferrocene (DFc) and decamethylferrocene (DMFc) at a polarized water¦1,2-dichloro ...

Waste tires are a major environmental concern due to their non-degradable nature and the large area occupied by them in landfills worldwide. Several recycling processes have been applied to minimize the high amount of waste tire disposal; in particular, py ...

Unlike the solid–air and solid–liquid interfaces, the optical properties of metal nanoparticles adsorbed at the liquid–liquid interface have not been theoretically exploited to date. In this work, the three dimensional finite difference time domain (3D-FDT ...

Magnetism-based microsystems, as those dedicated to immunoaffinity separations or (bio)chemical reactions, take benefit of the large surface area-to-volume ratio provided by the immobilized magnetic beads, thus increasing the sensitivity of the analysis. A ...

Surface plasmon resonance (SPR) was observed when a planar close-packed assembly of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) is adsorbed at the water|1,2-dichloroethane interface. Aqueous gold nanoparticles, 13 or 16 nm in diameter, are deposited at the interface by ad ...
