The present invention concerns a method for producing at least one ferroelectric device or structure comprising the steps of providing at least one ferroelectric material or layer, or providing at least one ferroelectric material or layer to be patterned o ...

Sensing weak magnetic fields is a topic of great importance in basic science and technology due to its wide range of applications. In this context, solid-state and nanoscale quantum sensors are poised to revolutionize the sensing platforms due to their ult ...

The fabrication of high-hardness non-hydrogenated diamond-like carbon (DLC) via standard magnetron sputtering (MS) is often hindered by the low sputtering yields and ionisation rates of carbon, therefore investigations into pulsed alternatives of MS, else ...

Diamond is an exceptional material that has recently seen a remarkable increase in interest in academic research and engineering since high-quality substrates became commercially available and affordable. Exploiting the high refractive index, hardness, las ...

The discovery of room-temperature single photon emission from color centers in diamond has in recent years boosted research interest in this renowned material in photonics and quantum community and beyond. Following understanding some basic principles of h ...

We study the effect of quantum vibronic coupling on the electronic properties of carbon allotropes, including molecules and solids, by combining path integral first principles molecular dynamics (FPMD) with a colored noise thermostat. In addition to avoidi ...

The integration of diamond and GaN has been highly pursued for thermal management purposes as well as combining their exceptional complementary properties for power electronics applications and novel semiconductor heterostructures. However, the growth of d ...

We demonstrate the design, fabrication, and experimental characterization of near-field binary phase transmission diffractive optical elements (DOEs) in single crystal diamond. Top-hat and arbitrary pattern DOE beam shapers were numerically optimized using ...

The field of diamond photonics is reviewed, with a focus on recent experimental demonstrations of photonic integrated devices in a single crystal diamond. This field leverages the outstanding material properties of diamond with the aim to establish large-s ...

We report on the design, fabrication and optical performance of gain mirrors in single crystal diamond substrates for vertical external cavity surface emitting lasers (VECSELs). VECSELs have gained attention recently due to their potential for high emissio ...

The thermal boundary conductance (TBC) of metal/dielectric couples was measured for a large variety of metals on silicon, sapphire, and diamond using time domain thermoreflectance and compared to data previously obtained on diamond. In the case of silicon, ...

Diamond is an exceptional material - hard, stiff, transparent, which makes it ideal for the fabrication of optical and mechanical systems that take advantage of these properties. Diamond is not only "better", but it offers the possibility of integrating br ...

We propose a non-contact surface finishing method for brittle substrates by ion beam etching and we experimentally demonstrate polishing of (100) single crystal diamond surface. We model and simulate the polishing process, and verify the results experiment ...

Microresonators are fundamental building blocks of any photonic integrated circuit, as they can be used as filters, modulators, sensors, and to enhance light emission. If these resonators are suspended and are free to oscillate, we can exploit the interact ...

In many semiconductor technologies, including GaN, the lack of p-channel devices is a major obstacle for complementary operations. Here, we demonstrate high-performance polycrystalline diamond p-channel transistors on GaN-on-Si. Following the optimization ...

The Thermal Boundary Conductance (TBC) at the interface between metals and dielectrics is of key importance for heat transport in structures heterogeneous on a scale from 100 µm downwards. In this thesis the TBC of a large number of metal/dielectric couple ...

Planetesimal were the first planetary objects to form in the solar system, which later grew to make the proto-planets. Most of these bodies were differentiated as a result of internal heating. Several differentiated bodies have, then, been accreted followi ...

A novel microfabrication technique for microelectrode arrays (MEAs) with a full diamond-cell interface is demonstrated. Boron-doped nano-crystalline diamond (BNCD) is used as a conductive electrode material on metal tracks insulated by intrinsic NCD. MEAs ...

There is a classical "duality" between homotopy and homology groups in that homotopy groups are compatible with homotopy pullbacks (every homotopy pullback gives rise to a long exact sequence in homotopy), while homology groups are compatible with homotopy ...

The Almahata Sitta MS-170 ureilite (a piece of a breccia originating from the asteroid, 2008 TC3) consists mainly of olivine, with many diamond and graphite grains existing between the olivine grains. The occurrences of the diamonds are unique; i.e., (i) s ...
