Efficient catalytic water splitting demands advanced catalysts to improve the slow kinetics of the oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Earth-abundant transition metal oxides show promising OER activity in alkaline media. However, most experimental information ...

High-resolution carbon K-edge X-ray photoelectron, X-ray absorption, non-resonant and resonant Auger spectra are presented of gas phase trans-1,3-butadiene alongside a detailed theoretical analysis utilising nuclear ensemble approaches and vibronic models ...

Excitons play an essential role in the optical response of two-dimensional materials. These are bound states showing up in the band gaps of many-body systems and are conceived as quasiparticles formed by an electron and a hole. By performing real-time simu ...

Fluorescence imaging is an indispensable tool to understand how biological networks operate in the complex environment of the living cell. Small-molecule fluorescent dyes offer many advantages including their high modularity, favorable photophysical proper ...

This study presents a general methodology and an experimental approach to identify the gas components within laser-induced cavitation bubbles. A needle electrode inside the cavitation bubble, which introduces low electric energy into the bubble, produces a ...

Glycans play an essential role in numerous physiological and pathological processes of living organisms. Despite their significant biological relevance, glycobiology remains one of the least explored fields of biochemistry. The intrinsic isomeric complexit ...

The atomic motion controls important properties of materials, such as thermal transport, phase transitions, and vibrational spectra. However, simulating the ionic dynamics is exceptionally challenging when quantum fluctuations are relevant (e.g., at low te ...

Over the last decades, three-dimensional micro-manufacturing of fused silica via near-infrared ultrafast laser exposure combined with an etching step has become an established technique for producing complex three-dimensional components. Here, we explore t ...

Methylidyne, CH(ads), adsorbed on a Pt(211) surface and its interaction with chemisorbed hydrogen atoms was studied by reflection absorption infrared spectroscopy (RAIRS). Methylidyne was formed on Pt(211) by methane dissociation from a molecular beam foll ...

Background A variety of imaging methods are available to obtain kinematic data at an interface, with a widely varying range of spatial and temporal resolution. These methods require a trade-off between imaging rate and resolution. Objective A deep learning ...

Mid-infrared spectrum is powerful for biosensing application, as it encompasses the molecular vibrations that uniquely identify the biochemicals. Here, we will present our contributions using metal, graphene and dielectric based Mid-IR nanophotonics. ...

Here, we propose a simple shake-flask method to produce micron-size colloidosomes from a liquid-liquid interface functionalized with a gold nanoparticle film. A step-by-step extraction process of an organic phase partially miscible with water led to the fo ...
