This article presents a two-times interleaved, loop-unrolled SAR analog-to-digital converter (ADC) operational from 300 down to 4.2 K. The 6-8-bit resolution and the sampling speed up to 1 GS/s are targeted at digitizing the multi-channel frequency-multipl ...

We present a statistical framework to benchmark the performance of reconstruction algorithms for linear inverse problems, in particular, neural-network-based methods that require large quantities of training data. We generate synthetic signals as realizati ...

In this thesis, we study the 3 challenges described above. First, we study different reconstruction techniques and assess the fidelity of each reconstruction results by means of structured illumination and phase conjugation. By reconstructing the 3D refrac ...

Optical frequency combs are a series of phase-locked and equidistant laser lines in the spectral domain. In the time domain, they correspond to periodic pulse trains by the Fourier relation. The ability to shape optical combs and pulse trains is pivotal to ...

This paper presents a low-power single-channel 8-bit loop-unrolled (LU) successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital-converter (ADC) with a novel common-mode adaptive background comparator offset calibration scheme. LU-SAR ADCs use multiple co ...

The ever-growing global internet traffic has increased demand for higher speed data transmission. As the bandwidth requirements of wireline links increase, extensive digital equalization techniques are required to compensate for the high-frequency channel ...

Finite rate of innovation (FRI) is a powerful reconstruction framework enabling the recovery of sparse Dirac streams from uniform low-pass filtered samples. An extension of this framework, called generalised FRI (genFRI), has been recently proposed for han ...

Power-Hardware-in-the-Loop (PHIL) setups have gained high importance in validation of the performance of newly developed instruments and devices with low risk and implementation cost. However, the interconnection of a power hardware with a simulated model ...

Sampling is classically performed by recording the amplitude of the input at given time instants; however, sampling and reconstructing a signal using multiple devices in parallel becomes a more difficult problem to solve when the devices have an unknown sh ...

Traditional sampling involves encoding a signal through (time, value)-pairs. In contrast, time encoding machines (TEMs) characterize a signal by recording time points which depend on the integral of the signal over time. We study multi-channel TEMs where c ...

Continuous-wave-driven Kerr nonlinear microresonators give rise to self-organization in terms of dissipative Kerr solitons, which constitute optical frequency combs that can be used to generate low-noise microwave signals. Here, by applying either amplitud ...

While the recent theory of compressed sensing provides an opportunity to overcome the Nyquist limit in recovering sparse signals, a solution approach usually takes the form of an inverse problem of an unknown signal, which is crucially dependent on specifi ...

We present a unifying framework for the development of state-of-the-art reconstruction algorithms in computational optics with a clear separation between the physical (forward model) and signal-related (regularization, incorporation of prior constraints) a ...

We propose a new, cost-efficient method for computing back projections in parallel-ray X-ray CT. Forward and back projections are the basis of almost all X-ray CT reconstruction methods, but computing these accurately is costly. In the special case of para ...

We propose an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) architecture, implemented in an FPGA, that is fully reconfigurable and easy to calibrate. This approach allows to alter the design, according to the system requirements, with simple modifications in the firmw ...

We propose new regularization models to solve inverse problems encountered in biomedical imaging applications. In formulating mathematical schemes, we base our approach on the sparse signal processing principles that have emerged as a central paradigm in t ...

PurposeIn this work, the limits of image reconstruction in k-space are explored when non-bijective gradient fields are used for spatial encoding. TheoryThe image space analogy between parallel imaging and imaging with non-bijective encoding fields is parti ...

Foundations of signal processing are heavily based on Shannon's sampling theorem for acquisition, representation and reconstruction. This theorem states that signals should not contain frequency components higher than the Nyquist rate, which is half of the ...

This brief presents a methodology to develop recursive filters in reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces. Unlike previous approaches that exploit the kernel trick on filtered and then mapped samples, we explicitly define the model recursivity in the Hilbert spa ...

We develop a variational algorithm for reconstructing phase objects from a series of bright field micrographs. Our mathematical model is based on the transport-of-intensity equation (TIE), which links the phase of a complex field to the axial derivative of ...
