Speech-to-speech translation is a framework which recognises speech in an input language, translates it to a target language and synthesises speech in this target language. In such a system, variations in the speech signal which are inherent to natural hum ...

The increasing availability of network data is leading to a growing interest in processing of signals on graphs. One notable tool for extending conventional signal-processing operations to networks is the graph Fourier transform that can be obtained as the ...

In this paper, we first introduce fractional integral spaces, which possess some features: (i) when 0 < α < 1, functions in these spaces are not required to be zero on the boundary; (ii)the tempered fractional operators are equivalent to the Riemann-Liouvi ...

This thesis deals with signal-based methods that predict how listeners perceive speech quality in telecommunications. Such tools, called objective quality measures, are of great interest in the telecommunications industry to evaluate how new or deployed sy ...

A method and device for reducing the computational complexity of a processing algorithm, of a discrete signal, in particular of the spectral estimation and analysis of bio-signals, with minimum or no quality loss, which comprises steps of (a) choosing a do ...

A spectral domain analysis is presented of a plane wave-excited subwavelength circular aperture in a planar perfectly conducting screen in close proximity to a multilayer stack, which may comprise uniaxially anisotropic slices. The formulation employs the ...

Localization microscopy such as STORM/PALM can achieve a nanometer scale spatial resolution by iteratively localizing fluorescence molecules. It was shown that imaging of densely activated molecules can accelerate temporal resolution which was considered a ...

In the past few years, fusing NIR and color images has been explored in general computational photography and computer vision tasks, where traditionally only color images are used. The additional information provided by the differences of light and scene r ...

The Learning With Error problem (LWE) is becoming more and more used in cryptography, for instance, in the design of some fully homomorphic encryption schemes. It is thus of primordial importance to find the best algorithms that might solve this problem so ...

A sensor is a device that detects or measures a physical property and records, indicates, or otherwise responds to it. In other words, a sensor allows us to interact with the surrounding environment, by measuring qualitatively or quantitatively a given phe ...

We introduce an adaptive continuous-domain modeling approach to texture and natural images. The continuous-domain image is assumed to be a smooth function, and we embed it in a parameterized Sobolev space. We point out a link between Sobolev spaces and sto ...

We propose a novel algorithm for automatic text line extraction on color and grayscale manuscript pages without prior binarization. Our algorithm is based on seam carving to compute separating seams between text lines. Seam carving is likely to produce ...
