Ought to their bioinert properties and facile synthesis, poly[(oligoethylene glycol)methacrylate]s (POEGMAs) have been raised as attractive alternatives to poly(ethylene glycols) (PEGs) in an array of (bio)material applications, especially when they are ap ...

This study investigates the microstructure and properties of functionally graded NiTi alloy bilayers. The NiTi layer is printed by laser powder bed fusion on a NiTiX (where X is Hf or Cu) substrate prepared by vacuum arc remelting. Specimens produced with ...

Ordered two-dimensional (2D) materials hosting Å-scale pores are highly promising for enabling challenging separation, thanks to well-defined pore geometry resulting in tight confinement of ions when hosted inside the pore. In addition, the 2D nature of th ...

The constant urge to construct new molecules in an economical and sustainable fashion led to the development of numerous metal-catalyzed transformations. Organocatalysts consisting of abundant and more sustainable elements offer an elegant solution to over ...

This paper investigates the potential impact of deep generative models on the work of creative professionals, specifically focusing on fashion design. We argue that current generative modeling tools lack critical features that would make them useful creati ...

A data storage medium (2) comprising a stacked plurality of layers (9), each layer composed of a layer material selected from a group comprising at least two different dielectric materials, adjacent layers being formed of different materials, and at least ...

Additive Manufacturing also commonly referred as 3D printing has been given a lot of interest lately. Market is growing exponentially and the aim for obtaining more complex and ready-to use parts is emerging. All the 3D printing processes consist in buildi ...

Hydraulic fracturing (HF) treatments can form widespread fractures. Understanding their containment at depth is critical, given the positive buoyancy contrast between the fracturing fluid and the surrounding rock, promoting upward growth. We study arrest m ...

The present invention concerns a method for producing at least one ferroelectric device or structure comprising the steps of providing at least one ferroelectric material or layer, or providing at least one ferroelectric material or layer to be patterned o ...

Polymer brushes, which are polymers anchored to a solid substrate by one chainend, have the ability to modify the properties of an underlying substrate, offering intriguing features such as enhanced lubrication, reduced friction, colloidal stability, and a ...

We demonstrate extreme laser-induced modification confinement in a stack of dielectric layers, along the optical axis, without the use of tight focusing. Specifically, we show that an aperiodic distribution of layer thicknesses can effectively lead to the ...

Laser-induced forward transfer (LIFT) technique is an emerging micro additive manufacturing (AM) technique that has been widely used to print a variety of materials. Distinguished from other nozzle-based AM techniques, LIFT operates without the existence o ...

CO-selective metals (e.g., Ag) on Cu catalysts improve the selec-tivity of multi-carbon (C2+) products in electrochemical CO2 reduc-tion. However, the origin of the improvement remains unclear due to the convolution of tandem and interface effects. Here, A ...

Disclosed herein is a method for labelling a portion of a device, said method comprising the steps of providing a first substrate layer of a transparent or translucent material, depositing a first coloured material onto said first substrate layer in a labe ...

At SMEAR II research station in Hyytiala, located in the Finnish boreal forest, the process of new particle formation and the role of ions has been investigated for almost 20 years near the ground and at canopy level. However, above SMEAR II, the vertical ...

The production of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) represents a relevant option to valorize municipal wastewater (MWW). In this context, different capture technologies can be used to recover organic carbon from wastewater in form of solids, while pre-treatment ...

Copper-based tandem schemes have emerged as promising strategies to promote the formation of multi-carbon products in the electrocatalytic CO2 reduction reaction. In such approaches, the CO-generating component of the tandem catalyst increases the local co ...

Online services have become ubiquitous in technological society, the global demand for which has driven enterprises to construct gigantic datacenters that run their software. Such facilities have also recently become a substrate for third-party organizatio ...

As an important connection of terrestrial and marine ecosystems, rivers input multitudinous (micro)plastics into the oceans. However, comparisons of field and estimated riverine inputs of (micro)plastics and contributions of multiple parameters are limited ...

The present invention concerns a layer or substrate flattening method comprising the steps of: - providing a layer or substrate (1) to be flattened; - measuring a topography or surface profile of at least one area (3) of the layer or substrate to be flatte ...
