Tunnel FETs (TFETs) are being intensively investigated for their potential in achieving subthermal switching slopes and extremely low leakage currents. Recently, a promising concept has been proposed: the electron-hole bilayer TFET (EHBTFET), which exploit ...

This paper presents an eigenvalues analysis method for an induction machine model based on phase variables a, b, c. This approach is validated by comparison with ad, q approach and applied to a variable speed pump-turbine unit using a simplified model of t ...

Currently, wafer-fusion technology represents an effective technique for enhancing the performance of long-wavelength vertical cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) based on classical double heterostructures with multi-quantum well active regions. Using ...

From the electrical point of view, the body and the anode of high power gyrotrons behave as capacitive loads. A highly dynamic power supply is, therefore, hard to achieve. The MAGY concept (Modulator for the Anode of a triode type GYrotron) embodies an inn ...

Spatial transverse modes and polarization states are experimentally studied in single vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) and phased-locked VCSEL arrays emitting at 1.3 mu m wavelength. Analysis of the polarization-resolved near fields, far fi ...

InAlGaAs/AlGaAs-based wafer-fused long-wavelength VCSELs with tunnel junction injection emitting in the 1310 nm and 1550 nm bands show high single-mode output and high speed modulation capabilities of 10 Gbps. Fundamental emission close to 6 mW at room tem ...

Grown on a (111) high-resistivity silicon substrate, 0.1-mu m gate AlInN/GaN high-electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) achieve a maximum current density of 1.3 A/mm, an extrinsic transconductance of 330 mS/mm, and a peak current gain cutoff frequency as h ...

Recent experimental progress in cavity optomechanics has allowed cooling of mesoscopic mechanical oscillators via dynamic backaction provided by the parametric coupling to either an optical or an electrical resonator. Here we analyze the occurrence of norm ...

In high energy physics and space applications it becomes mandatory to solve specific problems concerning the power supply. In both cases, it exists a harsh radiation environment and the presence of external electromagnetic perturbations. The former prevent ...

We combine photonic crystal and quantum cascade band engineering to create an in-plane laser at terahertz frequency. We demonstrate that such photonic crystal lasers strongly improve the performances of terahertz quantum cascade material in terms of thresh ...

Femtosecond laser pulses used in a regime below the ablation threshold have two noticeable effects on Fused Silica (a-SiO2): they locally increase the material refractive index and modify its HF etching selectivity. The nature of the structural changes ind ...
