This paper shows the preparation of a gold suspension containing carbon nanocapsules and their co-deposition from the colloidal galvanic bath on a nickel electrode to obtain gold/nanocapsules composite coatings. The incorporation of the nanocapsules was co ...

Gold coating are widely used in industry due to their corrosion resistance, electrical conductivity and low contact resistance. However, friction and wear can limit their functionality and lifetime. This study addresses the degradation of a commercial fine ...

Plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) was used to deposit SiOx thin films of varying thicknesses on parylene C substrates, using hexamethyldisiloxane (HMDSO) as a precursor. The microstructure of SiOx coatings was analyzed using X-ray photoemis ...

Based on detailed EBSD analyses, Kurtuldu et al. (Acta Mater. 70:240-248, 2014) have explained the grain refinement of Au-12.5 wt pctCu-12.5 wt pctAg (yellow gold) by the addition of minute amounts of Ir in terms of icosahedral quasicrystal (iQC)-mediated ...

The erosion, transport and deposition of tungsten in the outer divertor of JET-ILW has been studied for an H-Mode discharge with low frequency ELMs. For this specific case with an inter-ELM electron temperature at the strike point of about 20 eV, tungsten ...

Modern envelope glazing relies on nanoscale coatings to meet a range of specific needs. Low emissivity coatings can improve the thermal performance of glazing thanks to a thin metallic film. However, the conductive nature of this layer leads to an attenuat ...

In this study, photoactive CuxO/TiO2 coatings were prepared using magnetron sputtering operated at different powers and modes (Direct-current magnetron sputtering and High Power Impulse magnetron sputtering). Indoor/outdoor air pollutions (Volatile Organic ...

N-Enoxyimides have become attractive substrates for novel catalytic transformations, yet their tedious multi-step synthesis hampers full exploitation of their synthetic potential. We report a gold(I)-catalyzed protocol to access N-enoxyimides from simple a ...

The plasmonic response of gold can be utilized to enhance the incident electromagnetic (EM) field by several orders of magnitude. When a gold nanoparticle is placed in close proximity to a gold film, the incident field can excite a deeply confined plasmon, ...

Solar disinfection (SODIS) is a WHO-accepted intervention method for improving water sources in developing countries. Despite its effectiveness, the limitations of long exposure and bacterial regrowth risk demand further improvement of the practice. In thi ...

The great interest in portable and wearable monitoring systems has promoted in recent years a major expansion of all-solid-state Ion-Selective Electrodes (ISEs). Nanostructured Solid-Contacts (SCs) have shown a promising potential in order to eliminate the ...

Surface patterning using plasmonic nanoparticles has attracted increasing interest owing to their wide use in sensing, imaging and medical applications. In this report we demonstrate bottom-up engineering of size distribution of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) ...

Despite extensive advances in the field of molecular recognition, the real-time monitoring of small molecule binding to nanoparticles (NP) remains a challenge. To this end, we report on a versatile approach, based on quartz crystal microbalance with dissip ...
