The combination of palladium salts and bipyridyl ligands can lead to the formation of a large variety of coordination complexes, with different shapes and sizes, displaying a very versatile host-guest chemistry. Increasing their structural complexity remai ...

Cobalt(II) complexes featuring hexadentate amino-pyridyl ligands have been recently discovered as highly active catalysts for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (HER), whose high performance arises from the possibility of assisting proton transfer processes v ...

Transition metal-catalyzed C-H activation is a powerful tool for the synthesis of organic building blocks, materials, and natural products. Over the last decade, directing-group-assisted metal-catalyzed C-H functionalization has attracted increasing intere ...

Macrocycles are an attractive class of molecules due to their good binding properties and yet rather small size that allows, in many cases, crossing membranes to reach intracellular targets. In comparison to classical small molecule drugs, macrocycles are ...

Whether one aims to design treatments for diseases such as cancer or diabetes, engineer cells to produce valuable biochemicals sustainably, or to grasp the behavior of living organisms, it is essential to understand how cells react to genetic, environmenta ...

Energy transfer reactions occur in all areas of chemistry. One fundamental form of this is demonstrated by reactions in which an electronically excited atom transfers energy to a neutral, resulting in spontaneous ionisation, potentially combined with compl ...

Photoredox catalysis has become a powerful tool for chemists. However, the reliance on expensive Ir and Ru based photoredox catalysts (PC) motivates research for more sustainable options. Copper complexes based on favorable photophysical properties, high a ...

Biomass is an attractive source of renewable carbon-based fuels and chemicals. Multiple research efforts are centered around integrated biorefineries, where all fractions of biomass are converted to fuels or chemical products. These efforts are focused aro ...

α-Diimines are among the most robust and versatile ligands available in synthetic coordination chemistry, possessing finely tunable steric and electronic properties. A series of novel cationic ruthenium(II) p-cymene complexes bearing simple α-diimine ligan ...

Catalysis fulfills the promise that high-yielding chemical transformations will require little energy and produce no toxic waste. This message is carried by the study of the evolution of molecular catalysis of some of the most important reactions in organi ...

The reactions of the tetrasiloxide U(III) complexes [U(OSi(OtBu)3)4K] and [U(OSi(OtBu)3)4][K18c6] with 0.5 equiv. of triphenylphosphine sulfide led to reductive S-transfer reactions, affording the U(IV) sulfide complexes [SU(OSi(OtBu)3)4K2]2, 1, and [{SU(O ...

[Fe]-Hydrogenase catalyses the reversible hydrogenation of a methenyltetrahydromethanopterin substrate, which is an intermediate step during the methanogenesis from CO2 and H-2. The active site contains an iron-guanylylpyridinol cofactor, in which Fe2+ is ...

Metal organic supramolecular chemistry on surfaces has matured to a point where its underlying growth mechanisms are well understood and structures of defined coordination environments of metal atoms can be synthesized in a controlled and reproducible proc ...

Enzymes are biocatalysts widely used in a large number of industrial biotech processes as they offer clear advantages over their chemical counterparts. Indeed, enzymes often show high substrate selectivity along with elevated turnover rates. Enzymatic cata ...

The reaction of propargyl amines with tert-butylisonitrile in the presence of a catalytic amount of both Yb(OTf)3 and AgOTf afforded imidazoles, whereas the same reaction with primary and secondary alkylisonitriles, as well as arylisonitriles, in the prese ...

Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is one of the most relevant peroxidase enzymes, used extensively in immunochemistry and biocatalysis applications. Unlike the closely related catalase enzymes, it exhibits a low activity to disproportionate hydrogen peroxide (H ...

Water-soluble ruthenium m-triphenylphosphinetrisulfonate (TPPTS) complexes are excellent catalysts for formic acid dehydrogenation. Interestingly, the choice of metal catalyst precursor has a direct influence on initial activities. The reaction with hexaaq ...

The modeling platform µic has been extended to study the hydration of cement based systems. It is shown that the hydration kinetics of alite can be described through the implementation of two mechanisms: a solution controlled dissolution (SCD) mechanism fo ...
