We report on the mountain top observation of three terrestrial gamma-ray flashes (TGFs) that occurred during the summer storm season of 2021. To our knowledge, these are the first TGFs observed in a mountaintop environment and the first published European ...

Gamma-ray spectroscopy is an effective technique for radioactive material characterization, routine inventory verification, nuclear safeguards, health physics, and source search scenarios. Gamma-ray spectrometers typically cannot be operated in the immedia ...

Delayed 'pair-echo' signal from interactions of very-high-energy gamma rays in the intergalactic medium can be used for the detection of the intergalactic magnetic field (IGMF). We used the data of the Fermi/LAT telescope coupled with LHAASO observatory me ...

Noise measurements in light water reactor systems aid in generating validation data for integral point kinetic parameter predictions and generating monitoring parameters for reactor safety and safeguards. The CROCUS zero-power reactor has been used to supp ...

A sample of 3984 candidates of the K+ -> pi(+)gamma gamma decay, with an estimated background of 291 +/- 14 events, was collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN during 2017-2018. In order to describe the observed di-photon mass spectrum, the next-to-leadin ...

In TCV, unstable modes excited by resonant interaction between the shear Alfvèn waves in con- tinuum gaps and energetic particles have been observed in scenarios with Neutral Beam Injection (NBI). TCV is a middle-size device (R 0 /a = 0.88/0.25) equipped w ...

The High Energy cosmic-Radiation Detection facility (HERD) is a calorimetric experiment planned to be launched in 2027. It will be operational for at least 10 years on board the China Space Station. With HERD we will measure the energy flux of cosmic proto ...

We show that the IceCube observation of the Galactic neutrino-flux component confirms the hint of detection of neutrinos from the Galactic ridge (the inner part of the Milky Way disk within the Galactic longitude IlI < 30(degrees)), previously reported by ...

In this thesis, the development and testing of a system for measuring the axial distribution of fast neutron emission of spent nuclear fuel rods is presented. Emphasis is placed on the novel fast neutron detector used which can reliably work in extremely h ...

We consider a class of parabolic stochastic PDEs on bounded domains D c Rd that includes the stochastic heat equation but with a fractional power gamma of the Laplacian. Viewing the solution as a process with values in a scale of fractional Sobolev spaces ...

Elongated plasmas lead to improved performance in tokamaks but make the plasma prone to vertical instability, which requires active feedback control, a critical issue for future fusion reactors. Vertical control was optimized for the TCV tokamak by applyin ...

The prediction of plasma rotation is of high interest for fusion research due to the effects of the rotation upon magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) instabilities, impurities, and turbulent transport in general. In this work, an analysis method was studied and vali ...

The plasma design point during stationary phase operation of EU-DEMO has been described extensively in the past, and the assumptions employed for its definition have been supported by various investigations. However, a stationary snapshot is by far not suf ...

Measurement of the X-ray spectra of the He-like Ni ions (Ni26+) and their dielectronic satellites (Ni25+, Ni24+, and Ni23+) plays a crucial role in determination of electronic and ion temperature of plasma in the JET device. Because n >= 3 satellites of Ni ...

Understanding generation and mitigation of runaway electrons in disruptions is important for the safe operation of future tokamaks. In this paper we investigate the runaway dynamics in reactor-scale spherical tokamaks, focusing on a compact nominal design ...

Medipix4 is the latest member in the Medipix/Timepix family of pixel detector chips aimed at high rate spectroscopic X-ray imaging using high-Z materials. The chip address the limitations of conventional hybrid pixel detectors for X-ray imaging. Its predec ...

In the last years, sub-nanosecond time-resolved particle detectors have been object of research by many companies and institutes since they represent an efficient tool to improve the performance of detecting systems for various applications such as High En ...

Alfven eigenmode (AE) instabilities driven by alpha-particles have been observed in D-He-3 fusion experiments on the Joint European Torus (JET) with the ITER-like wall. For the efficient generation of fusion alpha-particles from D-He-3 fusion reaction, the ...

The Tibet AS gamma collaboration has reported a diffuse gamma-ray emission signal from the Galactic Plane. We consider the possibility that the diffuse emission from the outer Galactic Plane at the highest energies is produced by cosmic rays spreading from ...

We present DARKFLUX, a software tool designed to analyze indirect-detection signatures for next-generation models of dark matter (DM) with multiple annihilation channels. Version 1.0 of this tool accepts user-generated models with 2 -> 2 tree-level dark ma ...
