Soft switching in dual-active-bridge (DAB) converters enables their efficient operation at high frequencies, where the reduction in the size of magnetic components could result in ultra-high power densities. Nonetheless, losing soft-switching at high frequ ...

In this article, a soft-switched nonisolated high step-up multi-input dc-dc converter is proposed. The proposed converter has overcome the hard switching problem of the conventional boost three port converter (boost-TPC) by providing zero-voltage-switching ...

Renewable energy sources are generally interfaced with the electric distribution and transmission grid via power converters. The displacement of the traditional generating plants requires the new resources to be involved in the grid control strategy. This ...

As the labeling cost for different modules in task-oriented dialog (ToD) systems is expensive, a major challenge is to train different modules with the least amount of labeled data. Recently, large-scale pre-trained language models, have shown promising re ...

In recent years, DC grids have gained momentum due to the advantages they display over their AC counterparts. For instance, high voltage DC grids have been established as the most prominent solution in the underwater power transmission or interconnection o ...

Weight sharing has become a de facto standard in neural architecture search because it enables the search to be done on commodity hardware. However, recent works have empirically shown a ranking disorder between the performance of stand-alone architectures ...

This work presents new secondary regulators for current sharing and voltage balancing in DC microgrids, composed of distributed generation units, dynamic RLC lines, and nonlinear ZIP (constant impedance, constant current, and constant power) loads. The pro ...

This paper presents a unifying framework for the form-finding and topology-finding of tensegrity structures. The novel computational framework is based on rank-constrained linear matrix inequalities. For form-finding, given the topology (i.e., member conne ...

The paper aims at minimizing DC voltage oscillations in offshore multiterminal high-voltage direct current (HVDC) grids based on modular multilevel converters (MMCs). The DC voltage stability is a crucial factor in multiterminal HVDC networks since it is a ...

Steadily increasing requirements for grid connected converters, their growing unit power and output voltage call for flexible high-power medium-voltage grid emulators. Four-quadrant cascaded H-bridge topology features high output voltage resolution and hig ...

Hybrid modular multilevel converter control and design for pumped hydro storage plants is presented, addressing application-specific shortcoming of conventional back-to-back half-bridge modular multilevel converter: high common-mode-voltage machine stress. ...

We experimentally solve the problem of maximizing capacity under a total supply power constraint in a massively parallel submarine cable context, i.e., for a spatially uncoupled system in which fiber Kerr nonlinearity is not a dominant limitation. By using ...

The required module capacitances of modular multilevel converters can be significantly reduced in comparison to conventional operation modes when quasi-two-level operation is applied. Unfortunately, the output voltage distortion becomes similar to those of ...

Specific applications, such as dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) or electroactive polymers, require to switch voltage levels exceeding the ratings of existing semiconductor devices. In low power application, reversible flyback are widely used to supply ...

Recently, IGCTs have shown a great potential for the soft-switching dc transformer applications based on LLC resonant converter. The zero-voltage switching that is present in this converter topology enables an operation of IGCTs without clamping circuit an ...

Frequency response and voltage support are vital ancillary services for power grids. In this paper, we design and experimentally validate a real-time control framework for battery energy storage systems (BESSs) to provide ancillary services to power grids. ...

A high share of distributed photovoltaic (PV) generation in low-voltage networks may lead to over-voltage, and line/transformer overloading. To mitigate these issues, we investigate how advanced electricity tariffs could ensure safe grid operation while en ...

This paper analyzes the effectiveness of the integration of the series inductor into the medium frequency transformer used for series resonant or dual active bridge converters - galvanically isolated DC-DC converters for high-power medium-voltage (solid st ...

Today, it is common knowledge in the cyber-physical systems domain that the tight interaction between the cyber and physical elements provides the possibility of substantially improving the performance of these systems that is otherwise impossible. On the ...
