Let K be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero, and let G be a connected reductive algebraic group over K. We address the problem of classifying triples (G, H, V ), where H is a proper connected subgroup of G, and V is a finitedimensional ir ...

The present invention relates to a compound of the general formula (I), and (II)wherein one of R11 and R12 is hydrogen and the other is -CH2-R70, and one of R13 and R14 is hydrogen and the other is -CH2-R71, or wherein one of R11 and R12 is hydrogen and th ...

The present invention relates to a compound of the general formula (I), (II) and (III), more specifically of formula (Ia), (Ib), (Ic)wherein R11 and R12 or R21 and R22 or R31 and R32 are both hydrogen or form together with CHR50 a cyclic moiety or one of R ...

We investigate generalizations along the lines of the Mordell-Lang conjecture of the author's p-adic formal Manin-Mumford results for n-dimensional p-divisible formal groups F. In particular, given a finitely generated subgroup (sic) of F(Q(p)) and a close ...

Ulam asked whether all Lie groups can be represented faithfully on a countable set. We establish a reduction of Ulam's problem to the case of simple Lie groups. In particular, we solve the problem for all solvable Lie groups and more generally Lie groups w ...

A toric variety is called fibered if it can be represented as a total space of fibre bundle over toric base and with toric fiber. Fibered toric varieties form a special case of toric variety bundles. In this note we first give an introduction to the class ...

Prequalified beam-to-column connections in steel moment resisting frames usually concentrate inelastic deformations in the steel beam ends. As such, nonlinear geo-metric instabilities (i.e., local buckling) may occur in these regions at modest lateral drif ...

Compound of the general formula (Ia), (Ib) and (Ic) R50 and R60 are different form each other and are selected from the group consisting of -R70, -ZR70, -Z-OH, -Z-NH2, -Z-SH, -Z-OC(O)R70, -OC(O)R70, - COOH and its corresponding salts, -C(O)NH2, -C(O)NH-R70 ...

Ulam asked whether every connected Lie group can be represented on a countable structure. This is known in the linear case. We establish it for the first family of non-linear groups, namely in the nilpotent case. Further context is discussed to illustrate ...

Let k be an algebraically closed field of arbitrary characteristic, let G be a simple simply connected linear algebraic group and let V be a rational irreducible tensor-indecomposable finite-dimensional kG-module. For an element g of G we denote by $V_{g}( ...

Let G be either a simple linear algebraic group over an algebraically closed field of characteristic l>0 or a quantum group at an l-th root of unity. The category Rep(G) of finite-dimensional G-modules is non-semisimple. In this thesis, we develop new tech ...

Elastic surfaces that morph between multiple geometrical configurations are of significant engineering value, with applications ranging from the deployment of space-based PV arrays, the erection of temporary shelters, and the realization of flexible displa ...

Since the birth of Information Theory, researchers have defined and exploited various information measures, as well as endowed them with operational meanings. Some were born as a "solution to a problem", like Shannon's Entropy and Mutual Information. Other ...

When learning from data, leveraging the symmetries of the domain the data lies on is a principled way to combat the curse of dimensionality: it constrains the set of functions to learn from. It is more data efficient than augmentation and gives a generaliz ...

We classify the spherical birational sheets in a complex simple simply-connected algebraic group. We use the classification to show that, when G is a connected reductive complex algebraic group with simply-connected derived subgroup, two conjugacy classes ...

We study the spectra of non-regular semisimple elements in irreducible representations of simple algebraic groups. More precisely, we prove that if G is a simply connected simple linear algebraic group and φ : G → GL(V ) is a non-trivial irreducible repres ...

In the central nervous system of primates, several pathways are characterized by different spectra of axon diameters. In vivo methods, based on diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging, can provide axon diameter index estimates non-invasively. However ...

We prove that smooth, projective, K-trivial, weakly ordinary varieties over a perfect field of characteristic p>0 are not geometrically uniruled. We also show a singular version of our theorem, which is sharp in multiple aspects. Our work, together with La ...

We start this short note by introducing two remarkable mathematical objects: the E8E8 root lattice Lambda8Lambda8 in 8-dimensional Euclidean space and the Leech lattice Lambda24Lambda24 in 24-dimensional space. These two lattices stand out among their lat ...

Let G be a simply connected simple algebraic group over an al- gebraically closed field k of characteristic p > 0. The category of rationalG-modules is not semisimple. We consider the question of when the tensorproduct of two simple G-modules L(λ) and L(μ) ...
