The crowdedness of the RF spectrum constitutes problems in communication, however it also accommodates large amount of useful information. This information can be used to determine existing signals and operating contexts. However, spectrum condition varies ...

Chatter is a harmful self-excited vibration that commonly occurs during milling processes. Data -driven chatter detection and prediction is critical to achieve high surface quality and process efficiency. Most existing chatter detection approaches are base ...

Timely insights lead to business growth and scientific breakthroughs but require analytical engines that cope with the ever-increasing data processing needs. Analytical engines relied on rapid CPU improvements, yet the end of Dennard scaling stopped the fr ...

Machine learning and signal processing on the edge are poised to influence our everyday lives with devices that will learn and infer from data generated by smart sensors and other devices for the Internet of Things. The next leap toward ubiquitous electron ...

Long Range (LoRa) is an emerging low-power wide-area network technology offering long-range wireless connectivity to Internet of Things (IoT) devices. For energy efficiency reasons, LoRa end nodes implement a nonslotted ALOHA multiple access scheme to tran ...

Fourier transforms are an often necessary component in many computational tasks, and can be computed efficiently through the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm. However, many applications involve an underlying continuous signal, and a more natural choi ...

We present a polarization-insensitive metasurface processor to perform spatial asymmetric filtering of an incident beam, thereby allowing for real-time parallel analog processing. To enable massive parallel processing, we introduce a multiple-input multipl ...

Database workloads have significantly evolved in the past twenty years. Traditional database systems that are mainly used to serve Online Transactional Processing (OLTP) workloads evolved into specialized database systems that are optimized for particular ...

Centralized and cloud computing-based network architectures are the promising tracks of future communication systems where a large scale compute power can be virtualized for various algorithms. These architectures rely on high-performance communication lin ...

This paper concerns the maximum-likelihood channel estimation for MIMO systems with orthogonal space-time block codes when the finite alphabet constraint of the signal constellation is relaxed. We study the channel coefficients estimation subspace generate ...

The advent of the quantum computer makes current public-key infrastructure insecure. Cryptography community is addressing this problem by designing, efficiently implementing, and evaluating novel public-key algorithms capable of withstanding quantum comput ...

This work presents an ADC-bascd receiver (RX) data-path for frame-based PAM-4 modulation with a cyclic prefix (CP). Similar to discrete multi-tone (DMT) modulation, a frame of PAM-4 symbols arc protected from the channel delay spread by the CP taps. A PAM- ...

The capability to process high-resolution videos in real-time is becoming more important in a wide variety of applications such as autonomous vehicles, virtual reality or intelligent surveillance systems. The high-accuracy and complex video processing algo ...

Millimeter wave (mmWave) communication is a promising solution for coping with the ever-increasing mobile data traffic because of its large bandwidth. To enable a sufficient link margin, a large antenna array employing directional beamforming, which is ena ...

Due to increased embedded processing requirements, modern SoCs are becoming heterogeneous computing platforms by combining traditional processing units with custom reconfigurable hardware accelerators (HAs) on an FPGA fabric. However, efficiently managing ...

This paper presents a parallel implementation technique of digital equalizer for high-speed wireline serial link receiver (RX). In wireline RX, inter-symbol interference (ISI) is mitigated by continuous-time linear equalizer, and the remaining ISI is cance ...

The exponential growth of Internet traffic and related demands for higher communication speed pushes processor-to-processor and processor-to-memory interconnects to provide further higher data-rate. Often time, processor-to-memory interconnectsâ speed is ...

Aside from intentional interference, multipath is the most significant error source for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) receivers in many operational scenarios. In this thesis, we study the multipath estimation from two different perspectives: t ...

FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Array) are an attractive technology for high-speed data processing in space missions due to their unbeatable flexibility and best performance-to-power ratio in comparison to software. However FPGAs suffer from 3 major drawbac ...

In-band full-duplex systems are able to transmit and receive information simultaneously on the same frequency band. Due to the strong self-interference caused by the transmitter to its own receiver, the use of non-linear digital self interference cancellat ...
