Curcuminoids and their complexes continue to attract attention in medicinal chemistry, but little attention has been given to their metabolic derivatives. Here, the first examples of (arene)Ru(II) complexes with curcuminoid metabolites, tetrahydrocurcumin ...

Our ability to study and valorize the lignin fraction of biomass is hampered by the fundamental and still unmet challenge of precisely quantifying native lignin's structural features. Here, we developed a rapid elevated-temperature H-1-C-13 Heteronuclear S ...

Cysteine cathepsins proteases are enzymes that play essential physiological roles, but their activity is also associated to different aspects of cancer progression and to the development of other diseases. Therefore, cysteine cathepsins are relevant and pr ...

The advent of immunotherapy, such as immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) and adoptive transfer of cytotoxic lymphocytes, has transformed the clinical care of cancer. However, a significant proportion of patients are resistant to immunotherapy or experience re ...

129Xe dissolution dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) is a controversial topic. The gold standard technique for hyperpolarized xenon magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is spin exchange optical pumping, which received FDA approval in 2022. Nevertheless, the ve ...

A series of Ga(Q(n))(3) coordination compounds have been synthesized, where HQ(n) is 1-phenyl-3-methyl-4-RC(=O)-pyrazolo-5-one. The complexes have been characterized through analytical data, NMR and IR spectroscopy, ESI mass spectrometry, elemental analysi ...

Cells of two molecular genetic types of breast cancer-hormone-dependent breast cancer (ZR-75 cell line) and triple-negative breast cancer (BT-20 cell line)-were studied using atomic force microscopy and an optical nanomotion detection method. Using the Pea ...

Glycans play an essential role in numerous physiological and pathological processes of living organisms. Despite their significant biological relevance, glycobiology remains one of the least explored fields of biochemistry. The intrinsic isomeric complexit ...

Background: Sternbergia clusiana belongs to the Amaryllidaceae family and is recognized for the valuable biological activity of its major bioactive compounds. The aim of the current is to evaluate the anticancer effects of the ethanolic bulb extract of Ste ...

Permanent rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) cell lines represent potential in vitro alternatives to experiments with fish. We here developed a method to assess the bioaccumulation potential of anionic organic compounds in fish, using the rainbow trout li ...

Structure determination of materials is key to understanding their physical properties. While single-crystal X-ray diffraction is the gold standard for structures displaying long-range order, many materials of interest are polycrystalline and/or disordered ...

Purpose: Non-viral transfection approaches are extensively used in cancer therapy. The future of cancer therapy lies on targeted and efficient drug/gene delivery. The aim of this study was to determine the transfection yields of two commercially available ...

Multicellular organisms require very well organized and finely balanced cell-cell communication, adhesion and coordination to ensure the organisms homeostasis. These functions rely on specialized receptors placed at the cells membrane whose binding to thei ...

Simple Summary Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is the second most common histologic subtype of breast cancer and is often detected at an advanced stage. Up to 30% of ILC cases relapse and present a challenge for treatment. Unfortunately, there are few mod ...

Protein-based drugs are becoming increasingly important, but there are challenges associated with their formulation (for example, formulating stable inhalable aerosols while maintaining the proper long-term stability of the protein). Determining the morpho ...

BRCA2 and RAD51 are two proteins that play a central role in homologous recombination (HR) and DNA double strand break (DSB) repair. BRCA2 assists RAD51 fibrillation and defibrillation through binding with its eight BRC repeats, with BRC4 being one of the ...

The sensitivity of NMR spectroscopy is considerably enhanced by dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP). In DNP polarization is transferred from unpaired electrons of a polarizing agent to nearby proton spins. In solids, this transfer is followed by the transpo ...

The high isomeric complexity of glycans makes them particularly difficult to analyze. While ultra-high-resolution ion mobility spectrometry(IMS) can offer rapid baseline separation of many glycan isomers, their unambiguous identification remains a challengi ...

One key bottleneck of solid-state NMR spectroscopy is that H-1 NMR spectra of organic solids are often very broad due to the presence of a strong network of dipolar couplings. We have recently suggested a new approach to tackle this problem. More specifica ...

In solid-state NMR, homonuclear dipolar couplings contribute greatly to the broadening of 1H spectral line shapes. Even at the fastest magic-angle spinning rates (MAS) available today [100-150kHz], the linewidths still extend over several hundred Hertz, li ...
