The high confinement mode (H-mode) is a promising route to achieve high performance tokamak operations, as the ones foreseen in ITER and beyond. However, accessing a stable H-mode phase requires that the power across the plasma separatrix, Psep, exceeds a ...

This study examines the sawtooth crash phenomenon in tokamak plasmas by modeling it as a sequence of multi-region relaxed magnetohydrodynamic (MRxMHD) equilibria. Using the stepped-pressure equilibrium code, we constructed a series of equilibria representi ...

The paper describes the operation and upgrade of the Heating Neutral Beam Injection (HNBI) system as well as the related infrastructure at the Tokamak Configuration Variable (TCV) during the last years. In 2023, the installation of new TCV neutron shieldin ...

X-Point Radiator (XPR) regimes have been obtained in WEST tokamak experiments with nitrogen seeding during the experimental campaigns of 2023 and 2024. These experiments showed the formation of a stable toroidal radiating ring near the X-point, similar to ...

The radiation response of MOS transistors in a 22 nm Fully Depleted Silicon -On -Insulator (FDSOI) technology exposed to ultra -high total ionizing dose (TID) was investigated. Custom structures including n- and p -channel devices with different sizes and ...

Filamentary structures, also known as blobs, are a prominent feature of turbulence and transport at the edge of magnetically confined plasmas. They cause cross-field particle and energy transport and are, therefore, of interest in tokamak physics and, more ...

Alpha particles with energies on the order of megaelectronvolts will be the main source of plasma heating in future magnetic confinement fusion reactors. Instead of heating fuel ions, most of the energy of alpha particles is transferred to electrons in the ...

Pump-probe time-resolved imaging is a powerful technique that enables the investigation of dynamical processes. Signal-to-noise and sampling rate restrictions normally require that cycles of an excitation are repeated many times with the final signal recon ...

The Tokamak a Configuration Variable (TCV) has recently been equipped with gas baffles to increase its divertor closure for a broad range of divertor magnetic geometries. First experimental results reported in Reimerdes et al. (2021) demonstrated compatibi ...

During the operation of the CMS experiment at the High-Luminosity LHC the silicon sensors of the Phase-2 Outer Tracker will be exposed to radiation levels that could potentially deteriorate their performance. Previous studies had determined that planar flo ...

In High Energy Physics (HEP) experiments it is a common practice to expose electronic components and systems to particle beams, in order to assess their level of radiation tolerance and reliability when operating in a radiation environment. One of the faci ...
