Context. We report the exploitation of a sample of Solar System observations based on data from the third Gaia Data Release (Gaia DR3) of nearly 157 000 asteroids. It extends the epoch astrometric solution over the time coverage planned for the Gaia DR4, w ...

In this thesis, we investigate the inverse problem of trees and barcodes from a combinatorial, geometric, probabilistic and statistical point of view. Computing the persistent homology of a merge tree yields a barcode B. Reconstructing a tree from B invol ...

The classical Cepheid eta Aql was not included in past Leavitt Law work because of a presumed complicating orbit due to a known B9.8V companion. To determine the orbit of eta Aql B, we analyze a significant number of radial velocity (RV) measurements from ...

One approach to understand the chaotic dynamics of nonlinear dissipative systems is the study of non-chaotic yet dynamically unstable invariant solutions embedded in the system's chaotic attractor. The significance of zero-dimensional unstable fixed points ...

The development of oceanography and meteorology has greatly benefited from satellite-based data of Earth's atmosphere and ocean. Traditional Earth observation missions have utilised Sun-synchronous orbits with repeat ground tracks due to their advantages i ...

In this article, we investigate the possibility to model a metasurface, defined as a zero-thickness sheet of surface polarization currents and described by generalized sheet transition conditions (GSTCs), by a thin slab with a subwavelength thickness and u ...

We use Gaia DR2 astrometric and photometric data, published radial velocities and MESA models to infer distances, orbits, surface gravities, and effective temperatures for all ultra metal-poor stars ([Fe/H] < -4.0 dex) available in the literature. Assuming ...

The worst-case hardness of finding short vectors in ideals of cyclotomic number fields (Ideal-SVP) is a central matter in lattice based cryptography. Assuming the worst-case hardness of Ideal-SVP allows to prove the Ring-LWE and Ring-SIS assumptions, and t ...

We study how the gas in a sample of galaxies (M-* > 10(9) M-circle dot) in clusters, obtained in a cosmological simulation, is affected by the interaction with the intracluster medium (ICM). The dynamical state of each elemental parcel of gas is studied us ...

Consider the following property of a topological group G: every continuous affine G-action on a Hilbert space with a bounded orbit has a fixed point. We prove that this property characterizes amenability for locally compact a-compact groups (e.g., countabl ...

In this research study we describe our last effort in further improving the achievable Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) based navigation performance in an Earth-Moon Transfer Orbit (MTO). The GNSS-based orbital filter we implemented previously wit ...

Nowadays, one area of research in cryptanalysis is solving the Discrete Logarithm Problem (DLP) in finite groups whose group representation is not yet exploited. For such groups, the best one can do is using a generic method to attack the DLP, the fastest ...

We prove that the category of systems of sesquilinear forms over a given hermitian category is equivalent to the category of unimodular 1-hermitian forms over another hermitian category. The sesquilinear forms are not required to be unimodular or defined o ...

Let G be a finite group and let T(G) be the abelian group of equivalence classes of endotrivial kG-modules, where k is an algebraically closed field of characteristic p. We investigate the torsion-free part TF(G) of the group T(G) and look for generators o ...

We present the general notion of Borel fields of metric spaces and show some properties of such fields. Then we make the study specific to the Borel fields of proper CAT(0) spaces and we show that the standard tools we need behave in a Borel way. We also i ...

The effect of the local environment on the evolution of dwarf spheroidal galaxies is poorly understood. We have undertaken a suite of simulations to investigate the tidal impact of the Milky Way on the chemodynamical evolution of dwarf spheroidals that res ...

Let B be a positive quaternion algebra, and let O subset of B be an Eichler order. There is associated, in a natural way, a variety X = X(O) the connected components of which are indexed by the ideal classes of O and are isomorphic to spheres. This variety ...

Let K be a field with char(K) ≠ 2. The Witt-Grothendieck ring (K) and the Witt ring W (K) of K are both quotients of the group ring ℤ[𝓖(K)], where 𝓖(K) := K*/(K*)2 is the square class group of K. Since ℤ[𝓖(K)] is integra ...

This work is dedicated to the study of Borel equivalence relations acting on Borel fields of CAT(0) metric spaces over a standard probability space. In this new framework we get similar results to some theorems proved recently by S. Adams-W. Ballmann or N. ...

The mathematical facet of modern crystallography is essentially based on analytical geometry, linear algebra as well as group theory. This study endeavours to approach the geometry and symmetry of crystals using the tools furnished by differential geometry ...
