We explore applications of quantum computing for radio interferometry and astronomy using recent developments in quantum image processing. We evaluate the suitability of different quantum image representations using a toy quantum computing image reconstruc ...

This thesis aims at investigating the performance of figure-9 (figure-of-nine) optical fiber resonators as a practical solution for light storage, light generation and manipulation. The first part of the thesis focuses on a theoretical and experimental stu ...

In this work, we apply the high-resolution interference microscopy technique to investigate the intensity and phase of light transmitted through a binary phase element. Using a combination of simulation and experimental results, we identify specific featur ...

In this study, we apply interferometric microscopy to study the phase, alongside the intensity, of the light field transmitted through a wide variety of samples. Additionally, we conduct those interferometric measurements at different wavelengths within th ...

We present a comprehensive review on the latest research activities that explore the Gouy phase and indicate the recent experimental progresses for its observations in studies that rely on a longitudinal-differential interferometer. The latter is a far-fie ...

In multi-object spectrometers, field selectors, which are located in the focal plane of the telescopes, are required for the selection of astronomical objects, such as stars or faint galaxies. We present a two-dimensional micromirror array as a field selec ...

An interesting feature of light fields is a phase anomaly, which occurs on the optical axis when light is converging as in a focal spot. Since in Talbot images the light is periodically confined in both transverse and axial directions, it remains an open q ...

We present an experimental method to study field structures of highly confined light after interaction with microstructures. A high-resolution interference microscope (HRIM) allows us to measure the three-dimensional (3D) amplitude and phase distributions ...

We consider images probed through incomplete and noisy Fourier coverages, both in the context of radio interferometry (RI) and of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We show that the quality of signal reconstruction can be significantly enhanced by the introd ...

Dynamic control of the speed of a light signal, based on stimulated Brillouin scattering in optical fibers, was theoretically studied and also experimentally demonstrated as the core object of this thesis. To date, slow light based on stimulated Brillouin ...

This thesis presents a novel approach for optical tri-dimensional contouring, requiring only one acquisition to extract a contour depth. It is based on an interferometric setup, using a reduced coherence light source, and is fully adaptable to endoscopic p ...

In a previous paper (Song et al., 2005) we reported the first experimental demonstration of pulse advancement with gain in optical fibers using stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). We tested the two methods described above to achieve gain-assisted fast l ...

We describe a novel technique based on stimulated Brillouin scattering for propagating fast light (signal advancement) with low distortion in optical fibers. The essence of the technique relies on the presence of two separate gain resonances in the Brillou ...

Slow and fast light with null amplification or loss of a light signal is experimentally demonstrated. This novel method for producing zero-gain slow and fast light takes advantage of the great flexibility of stimulated Brillouin scattering in optical fiber ...

We demonstrate the use of digital holographic microscopy (DHM) as a metrological tool in micro-optics testing. Measurement principles are compared with those performed with Twyman-Green, Mach-Zehnder, and white-light interferometers. Measurements performed ...

We demonstrate the generation of slow and fast light based on stimulated Brillouin scattering in As2Se3 chalcogenide fiber with the best efficiency ever reported. The Brillouin gain of 43 dB is achieved with only 60-mW pump power in a 5-m single-mode chalc ...
