The output of physical systems, such as the scrambled pattern formed by shining the spot of a laser pointer through fog, is often easily accessible by direct measurements. However, selection of the input of such a system to obtain a desired output is diffi ...

We accurately reconstruct three-dimensional (3-D) refractive index (RI) distributions from highly ill-posed two-dimensional (2-D) measurements using a deep neural network (DNN). Strong distortions are introduced on reconstructions obtained by the Wolf tran ...

Single-particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) reconstructs the three-dimensional (3D) structure of bio-molecules from a large set of 2D projection images with random and unknown orientations. A crucial step in the single-particle cryo-EM pipeline is 3 ...

A homogenization approach for the solution of multiscale eddy current problem is proposed. The method is based on the subspace decomposition and it involves a coarse space and a nested fine space. The homogenized problem is posed in the coarse space with t ...

We present a multiscale reconstruction framework for single-particle analysis (SPA). The representation of three-dimensional (3D) objects with scaled basis functions permits the reconstruction of volumes at any desired scale in the real-space. This multisc ...

Spatio-temporal control of femtosecond pulse-delivery through multimode fibers (MMF) can be used to achieve two photon photo-polymerization. Transmission-matrix method is used in linear domain to solve the scrambling effect at the fiber output and generate ...

We report a low-power 4-channel NRZ optical RX including a digital burst-mode CDR measured up to 40Gb/s/lane in 14nm CMOS. The RX, designed for 850nm VCSEL based optical links, can wake-up and achieve phase-lock in 8ns at BER

Could bandwidth—one of the most classic concepts in signal processing—have a new purpose? In this paper, we investigate the feasibility of using bandwidth to infer shape from a single image. As a first analysis, we limit our attention to orthographic proje ...

We propose a new, cost-efficient method for computing back projections in parallel-ray X-ray CT. Forward and back projections are the basis of almost all X-ray CT reconstruction methods, but computing these accurately is costly. In the special case of para ...

Microscopy is an essential tool in medicine and biomedical research. Traditional microscopes rely on bulky optics, complicating their usage when studying live animal tissues. In addition, light cannot penetrate very far in most biological tissues due to sc ...

Traditional optical projection tomography requires the use of low numerical aperture objectives in order to achieve a large depth of field and approximate parallel projection geometry. However, low NA objectives suffer from poor resolution, resulting in bl ...

We present a new formulation of a family of proximity operators that generalize the projector step for phase retrieval. These proximity operators for noisy intensity measurements can replace the classical "noise-free" projection in any projection-based alg ...

We investigate the point spread function of a multimode fiber. The distortion of the focal spot created on the fiber output facet is studied for a variety of the parameters. We develop a theoretical model of wavefront shaping through a multimode fiber and ...

We present near diffraction limited two photon fluorescence (TPF) imaging through a lensless, multi-core fiber (MCF) endoscope utilizing digital phase conjugation. The ultra-small size of MCFs make them desirable tools for imaging deep into the body. TPF i ...

Multimode optical fibers potentially allow the transmission of larger amounts of information than their single mode counterparts because of their high number of supported modes. However, propagation of a light pulse through a multimode fiber suffers from s ...

A display panel assembly comprises a transflective holographic screen, i.e., a transparent screen that reflects light from a projection system, comprising at least a volume hologram, a first protective element and a second protective element, each arranged ...

Purpose At 7 Tesla (T), conventional static field (B0) projection mapping techniques, e.g., FASTMAP, FASTESTMAP, lead to elevated specific absorption rates (SAR), requiring longer total acquisition times (TA). In this work, the series of adiabatic pulses n ...

In this paper we evaluate the use of non-planar projections as a means to increase the Field of View (FoV) in embodied Virtual Reality (VR). Our main goal is to bring the virtual body into the user’s FoV and to understand how this affects the virtual body/ ...

Proximity exposure techniques in lithography are getting more and more popular because of the cost of ownership advantage of mask aligners compared to projection systems. In this paper a gap between simulation and the final result, the prints will be close ...

When a strict local martingale is projected onto a subfiltration to which it is not adapted, the local martingale property may be lost, and the finite variation part of the projection may have singular paths. This phenomenon has consequences for arbitrage ...
