Résumé

We propose the combination of a planar optical resonator and a solid immersion lens for resonantly enhanced non-contact near-field lithography. Subwavelength small spots can be produced by exciting the Bessel modes of the resonator. (C) 2008 Optical Society of America

Superlentille

Une superlentille est une lentille optique élaborée avec des métamatériaux et permettant de distinguer des détails jusqu'à vingt fois inférieurs à la longueur d'onde d'utilisation. Une lentille classique est dite « limitée par la diffraction », c'est-à-dire que l'image la plus petite que l'on pourra obtenir sera toujours une tache d'Airy et donc possède un diamètre dépendant du diamètre de la lentille et de la longueur d'onde d'utilisation, limitant l'utilisation de lentilles classiques en verre optique à l'observation d'objet de quelques centaines de nanomètres.

Metamaterial antenna

Metamaterial antennas are a class of antennas which use metamaterials to increase performance of miniaturized (electrically small) antenna systems. Their purpose, as with any electromagnetic antenna, is to launch energy into free space. However, this class of antenna incorporates metamaterials, which are materials engineered with novel, often microscopic, structures to produce unusual physical properties. Antenna designs incorporating metamaterials can step-up the antenna's radiated power.

Oil immersion

In light microscopy, oil immersion is a technique used to increase the resolving power of a microscope. This is achieved by immersing both the objective lens and the specimen in a transparent oil of high refractive index, thereby increasing the numerical aperture of the objective lens. Without oil, light waves reflect off the slide specimen through the glass cover slip, through the air, and into the microscope lens (see the colored figure to the right).
