Hybrid halide perovskites are among the most promising candidates for next-generation photovoltaics. The most investigated perovskite solar cells are lead based, which poses environmental concerns, making finding sustainable alternatives a pressing issue. ...

We evaluate the effect of storage conditions of uncured encapsulant rolls and the potential consequences on photovoltaic (PV) module performance. We show the impact of residual water trapped inside laminated double glass PV modules after lamination and dur ...

Inverted perovskite solar cells (PSCs) promise enhanced operating stability compared to their normal-structure counterparts1–3. To improve efficiency further, it is crucial to combine effective light management with low interfacial losses4,5. Here we devel ...

Predicting the performance of solar cells though analytical models is important for the theory-guided optimization of these devices. Earlier models neglect the impact of the optical generation in the quasi-neutral regions of a perovskite solar cell. Here, ...

Photoinduced charge separation into free carriers and subsequent charge transfer are key processes that govern the efficiencies of third generation solar cell technologies based on donor-acceptor heterojunctions. As these processes typically occur on picos ...

Most photovoltaic (PV) technologies are opaque to maximize visible light absorption. However, see-through solar cells open additional perspectives for PV integration. Looking beyond maximizing visible light harvesting, this work considers the human eye pho ...

Light-matter interaction drives many systems, such as optoelectronic devices like light-emitting diodes and solar cells, biological structures like photosystem II and potential future quantum devices. The absorption or emission of light typically occurs on ...

Nonradiative recombination losses originating from crystallographic distortions and issues occurring upon interface formation are detrimental for the photovoltaic performance of perovskite solar cells. Herein, we incorporated a series of carbamide molecule ...

Lightweight PV modules are attractive for building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) applications, especially for renovated buildings, where the additional load bearing capacity is limited. This work focuses on the development of a lightweight, glass-free pho ...

The thesis focuses on producing renewable fuels by direct conversion of concentrated solar energy via photoelectrochemical (PEC) approaches, which is one viable route for renewable fuel processing and energy storage. The aim of the Ph.D. thesis is to asses ...

Spatial positioning of nanocrystal building blocks on a solid surface is a prerequisite for assembling individual nanoparticles into functional devices. Here, we report on the graphoepitaxial liquid-solid growth of nanowires of the photovoltaic compound CH ...

Organic semiconductors have been proven to be suitable for efficient photovoltaic generation during the last decade but have been scarcely assessed as photoelectrochemical devices. In this work we present the fabrication and characterization of a new effic ...

Embedded dielectric scatterers comprise an important approach for light trapping in dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) due to their simple fabrication process. The challenge in applying these scatterers lies in finding the optimal dimensions and concentrati ...

Organic/metal interfaces control the performance of many optoelectronic organic devices, including organic light-emitting diodes or field-effect transistors. Using scanning tunnelling microscopy, low-energy electron diffraction, X-ray photoemission spectro ...

We report a high molar extinction coefficient heteroleptic polypyridyl ruthenium sensitizer, featuring an electron-rich 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene unit in its ancillary ligand. A nanocrystalline titania film stained with this sensitizer shows an improved o ...
