Sc-doped aluminum nitride (AlScN) allows for piezoelectric devices with large electromechanical coupling and the benefits increase with larger Sc doping in the film. However, with a larger Sc concentration, the process window narrows, and it is necessary t ...

The production rate of Lambda(0)(b) baryons relative to B-0 mesons in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy root s = 13 TeV is measured by the LHCb experiment. The ratio of Lambda(0)(b) to B-0 production cross sections shows a significant dependence on ...

Soil biodegradable mulch films composed of the polyester polybutylene adipate-co-terephthalate (PBAT) are being increasingly used in agriculture. Analytical methods to quantify PBAT in field soils are needed to assess its soil occurrence and fate. Here, we ...

We study the pattern formation of a thin film flowing under an inclined planar substrate. The phenomenon is studied in the context of the Rayleigh-Taylor instability using the lubrication equation. Inspired by experimental observations, we numerically stud ...

In materials, certain approximated symmetry operations can exist in a lower-order approximation of the effective model but are good enough to influence the physical responses of the system, and these approximated symmetries were recently dubbed "quasisymme ...

When a buoyant bubble is inserted into a closed capillary that is slightly smaller than the capillary length, it appears stuck; exactly why this is so is a puzzle that has remained unanswered over the past 50 years. Recent calculations suggest that the bub ...

Fast camera imaging is used to study ion acoustic waves propagating azimuthally in a magnetized plasma column. The high-speed image sequences are analyzed using proper orthogonal decomposition and 2D Fourier transform, allowing to evaluate the assets and d ...

A method for manufacturing a semiconducting, organic, covalent polymer network thin film is disclosed, said method comprising the steps of deposing a solution comprising azide- containing monomers and electron-deficient alkyne-containing monomers onto a re ...

Strain is an inevitable phenomenon in two-dimensional (2D) material, regardless of whether the film is suspended or supported. Moreover, strain is known to alter the physical and chemical properties, such as the band gap, charge carrier effective masses, d ...

Nanopores in two-dimensional (2D) membranes hold immense potential in single-molecule sensing, osmotic power generation, and information storage. Recent advances in 2D nanopores, especially on single-layer MoS2, focus on the scalable growth and manufacturi ...

We investigate the Rayleigh–Taylor instability of a thin liquid film coated on the inside of a cylinder whose axis is orthogonal to gravity. We are interested in the effects of geometry on the instability, and contrast our results with the classical case o ...

We evaluate the effect of storage conditions of uncured encapsulant rolls and the potential consequences on photovoltaic (PV) module performance. We show the impact of residual water trapped inside laminated double glass PV modules after lamination and dur ...

Digital technologies are transforming the film industry. Up until roughly a decade ago, the business model for film exhibition was based on theatrical release in combination with television sales and home cinema releases (video and DVD). Recently, many que ...

ZnO is commonly observed and assumed to crystallize fully in a wurtzite structure. Indeed, While polytypism between a wurtzite and a zinc blende phase is often seen in some II-VI compounds, it has only rarely been observed in ZnO. Here, by means of automat ...

We introduce a novel mesoscopic computational model based on a multiphase-multicomponent lattice Boltzmann method for the simulation of self-phoretic particles in the presence of liquid-liquid interfaces. Our model features fully resolved solvent hydrodyna ...

Reversible deformation is a unique property of elastic materials. Here, we design and fabricate highly stretchable multilayered films by patterning Y-shaped motifs through films of non- elastic materials, e.g. plastics, metals, ceramics. By adjusting the g ...

We analyze the clustering of galaxies using the z = 1.006 snapshot of the CosmoDC2 simulation, a high-fidelity synthetic galaxy catalog designed to validate analysis methods for the Vera C. Rubin Observatory Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST). We prese ...

The overall performance of accelerator magnets strongly relies on electrical and mechanical robustness of their components. With an increase of the energy, future particle accelerators will have to withstand integral doses of ionizing radiation of up to se ...

This work proposes a novel physics-based model for the fluid mechanics and heat transfer associated with slug flow boiling in horizontal circular microchannels to update the widely used three-zone model of Thome et al. (2004). The heat transfer model has a ...

Polycrystalline chemical vapour deposited ZnO films are commonly used as transparent electrodes for photovoltaic devices. Over the past years much effort has been put into improving their properties. Even though these films are now well optimised for speci ...
