Supramolecular self-assembly in water based on non-covalent bonding is attracting major attention due to the potential of hydrogels and aqueous polymers in biomedical applications. Although supramolecular polymerization in organic solvents is well establis ...

Protein-polymer conjugates are a class of molecules that combine the stability of polymers with the diversity, specificity, and functionality of biomolecules. These bioconjugates can result in hybrid materials that display properties not found in their ind ...

Can living near a national border have an effect on the politicization of individuals? To answer this question, this article challenges the results put forward by some European Border Studies scholars granting the border a major role in the construction of ...

Through the years, mineralogical studies have produced a tremendous amount of data on the atomic arrangement and mineral properties. Quite often, structural analysis has led to elucidate the role played by minor components, giving interesting insights into ...

Metal-based drugs and imaging agents are extensively used in the clinic for the treatment and diagnosis of cancers and a wide range of other diseases. The current clinical arsenal of compounds operate via a limited number of mechanisms, whereas new putativ ...

As a real-time optimization technique, modifier adaptation (MA) has gained much significance in recent years. This is mainly due to the fact that MA can deal explicitly with structural plant-model mismatch and unknown disturbances. MA is an iterative techn ...

Understanding hierarchical self-assembly of biological structures requires real time measurement of the self-assembly process over a broad range of length- and timescales. The success of high-speed atomic force microscopy (HS-AFM) in imaging small scale mo ...

The work presented in this thesis focused on the synthesis and characterization of new metalloligands based on iron(II) clathrochelate complexes. Clathrochelates can be functionalized peripherally with donor groups capable of coordinating metal ions. The s ...

Programmable self-assembly of modular robots offers promising means for structure formation at different scales. Rule-based approaches have been previously employed for distributed control of stochastic self-assembly processes. The assembly rate in the pro ...

BookTubers are a rapidly growing community in YouTube who shares content related to books. Previous literature has addressed problems related to automatically analyzing opinions and mood of video logs (vlogs) as a generic category in YouTube. Unfortunately ...

This thesis describes the design and synthesis of clathrochelate metalloligands for the construction of molecular nanostructures. The low synthetic effort, versatility and stability of the clathrochelate metalloligands makes them particularly suited to the ...

The newly emerged and quickly growing science of nanotechnology has been recognized as one of ``the twenty-first century's great leaps forward in scientific knowledge''. Self-assembly provides a powerful enabling technique for nanotechnology by providing a ...

Computer science is playing a driving role in transforming today's society through information technology. In this transformation we observe power shifts increasingly strengthening centralised organisations, which are negatively perceived by many people. W ...

The interface between two immiscible liquids, i.e. oil and water, is an extremely attractive scaffold to self-assemble nanoparticles (NP) in arranged films. The liquid-liquid interfaces (LLIs) are defect-free and pristine by the nature, they are transparen ...

The columnar self-assembly resulting from units of N, N', N"-trihexylbenzene-1,3,5-tricarboxamide is investigated in solution and the solid state by means of NMR spectroscopy. A parallel computational study utilizing both semiempirical and DFT methods allo ...

Several self-assembly systems have been developed in recent years, where depending on the capabilities of the building blocks and the controlability of the environment, the assembly process is guided typically through either a fully centralized or a fully ...

Stochastic self-assembly provides promising means for building micro-/nano-structures with a variety of properties and functionalities. Numerous studies have been conducted on the control and modeling of the process in engineered self-assembling systems co ...

The sequence of a peptide programs its self-assembly and hence the expression of specific properties through non-covalent interactions. A large variety of peptide nanostructures has been designed employing different aspects of these non-covalent interactio ...

It is possible to control the geometry and the composition of metallasupramolecular assemblies via the aspect ratio of their ligands. This point is demonstrated for a series of iron- and palladium-based coordination cages. Functionalized clathrochelate com ...

First impressions play a critical role in the hospitality industry and have been shown to be closely linked to the behavior of the person being judged. In this work, we implemented a behavioral training framework for hospitality students with the goal of i ...
