The increasing integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) within power distribution grids introduces uncertainties that can result in control and operation issues such as line congestions, reduced voltage quality and increased grid imbalance cost. ...

In supervised learning, the regularization path is sometimes used as a convenient theoretical proxy for the optimization path of gradient descent initialized from zero. In this paper, we study a modification of the regularization path for infinite-width 2- ...

We consider the problem of minimizing emission of a heavy-duty truck transporting freight between two locations subject to a hard deadline constraint. The truck is equipped with a multi-speed transmission and a modern combustion engine that intelligently s ...

Achieving reactive robot behavior in complex dynamic environments is still challenging as it relies on being able to solve trajectory optimization problems quickly enough, such that we can replan the future motion at frequencies which are sufficiently high ...

This paper proposes closed-form expressions for the calculation of the ground-return impedance and admittance of underground cables. The proposed expressions are shown to reproduce the integral equations of Xue with great accuracy for a wide range of groun ...

Conformal phased arrays can be found in many applications due to their ability to fit tridimensional surfaces and, thanks to their scanning performance, can excel planar arrays. However, most of the previously proposed analysis methods can be applied only ...

This letter investigates the universal approximation capabilities of Hamiltonian Deep Neural Networks (HDNNs) that arise from the discretization of Hamiltonian Neural Ordinary Differential Equations. Recently, it has been shown that HDNNs enjoy, by design, ...

Perimeter control based on Macroscopic Fundamental Diagram (MFD) aims to meter the number of transferring vehicles at the periphery of the protected urban region in order to obtain the desired number of vehicles in that region. The advantage of perimeter c ...

The EU FASTGRID project aimed at improving the REBCO conductor in order to enhance its economical attractiveness for the Superconducting Fault Current Limiter (SFCL). Two approaches were simultaneously investigated: i) the reduction of the tape length thro ...

This paper analyzes the implementation of least-mean-squares (LMS)-based, adaptive diffusion algorithms over networks in the frequency-domain (FD). We focus on a scenario of noisy links and include a moving-average step for denoising after self-learning to ...

The paper describes a coupling of the geometric Volume-of-Fluid (VOF) method with a sharp-interface phase-change model for Cartesian and axisymmetric grids. Both the interfacial position and the temperature field are resolved with subgrid accuracy. Species ...

Objective. Recent results have shown the potentials of neural interfaces to provide sensory feedback to subjects with limb amputation increasing prosthesis usability. However, their advantages for decoding motor control signals over current methods based o ...

Micropollutants (MP) with varying ozone-reactive moieties were spiked to lake water in the influent of a drinking water pilot plant consisting of an ozonation followed by a biological sand filtration. During ozonation, 227 transformation products (OTPs) fr ...

A high share of distributed photovoltaic (PV) generation in low-voltage networks may lead to over-voltage, and line/transformer overloading. To mitigate these issues, we investigate how advanced electricity tariffs could ensure safe grid operation while en ...
