Small-angle-scattering tensor tomography is a technique for studying anisotropic nanostructures of millimetre-sized samples in a volume-resolved manner. It requires the acquisition of data through repeated tomographic rotations about an axis which is subje ...

We present an extreme ultraviolet (EUV) transient grating (TG) experiment of the spinel Co3O4 compound using tuneable incident energies across the Co M-2,M-3-edge and a 395 nm probe pulse, detecting both the first and the second diffraction orders (SDOs). ...

The emergence of van der Waals (vdW) materials resulted in the discovery of their high optical, mechanical, and electronic anisotropic properties, immediately enabling countless novel phenomena and applications. Such success inspired an intensive search fo ...

The fabrication of metallic nanostructures on stretchable substrates enables specific applications that exploit the combination of the nano-scale phenomena and the mechanical tunability of the physical dimensions of the nanostructures. Due to the large dif ...

Molecular junctions represent a fascinating frontier in the realm of nanotechnology and are one of the smallest optoelectronic devices possible, consisting of individual molecules or a group of molecules that serve as the active element sandwiched between ...

Capillary-assisted particle assembly (CAPA) in predefined topographical templates is a scalable method for the precise positioning of nanoscale objects on various surfaces. High-resolution CAPA templates are typically fabricated by expensive electron-beam ...

The material and exact shape of a nanostructure determine its optical response, which is especially strong for plasmonic metals. Unfortunately, only a few plasmonic metals are available, which limits the spectral range where these strong optical effects ca ...

The most prevalent materials used in the field of plasmonics are Au and Ag. However, for the past few years, the plasmonic community has also been looking for alternative materials that have lower losses than Au and higher stability than Ag. This thesis is ...

The discovery of room-temperature single photon emission from color centers in diamond has in recent years boosted research interest in this renowned material in photonics and quantum community and beyond. Following understanding some basic principles of h ...

This work presents the fabrication and analysis of suspended thin film Lithium Niobate resonators. The yield of the new fabrication process presented below is >90% showing devices with high k(t)(2) of 28% resonators at 5GHz, making them suitable for high f ...

Ever growing pixel acquisition rates in the fields of augmented reality, autonomous driving and robotics have increased interest in solid state beam scanning without moving parts. Modern photonic integrated laser ranging advances towards passive beam steer ...

Laser-induced forward transfer (LIFT) technique is an emerging micro additive manufacturing (AM) technique that has been widely used to print a variety of materials. Distinguished from other nozzle-based AM techniques, LIFT operates without the existence o ...

The majority of current semiconductor technologies are built on Si (100), such as the CMOS technology, or conventional solar cell devices. III-V semiconductors offer great perspectives given their high carrier mobility and direct band gap. However their in ...

Conformal phased arrays can be found in many applications due to their ability to fit tridimensional surfaces and, thanks to their scanning performance, can excel planar arrays. However, most of the previously proposed analysis methods can be applied only ...

Measuring the thermoelectric transport properties of a material is a prerequisite to determining its usefulness for application in waste heat recovery or cooling and the basis for devising improvement strategies. While well-established characterization met ...

The Spindle Assembly Abnormal Protein 6 (SAS-6) forms dimers, which then self-assemble into rings that are critical for the nine-fold symmetry of the centriole organelle. It has recently been shown experimentally that the self-assembly of SAS-6 rings is st ...

This study evaluates the secondary electron (SE) dopant contrast in scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and helium ion microscopy (HIM) on boron implanted silicon sample. Complementary techniques like secondary ion mass spectrometry and electrochemical capa ...

A search for the pair production of the lightest supersymmetric partner of the top quark, the top squark ((t) over tilde (1)), is presented. The search targets the four-body decay of the (t) over tilde (1), which is preferred when the mass difference betwe ...

Secondary electron emission is an important process that plays a significant role in several plasma-related applications. As measuring the secondary electron yield experimentally is very challenging, quantitative modelling of this process to obtain reliabl ...

Miniaturization has been at the forefront of scientific research in the past decade covering diverse areas such as electronics, mechanics, and optics. While 'small is beautiful' may be a vast generalization, the true benefits of miniaturization are especia ...
