Steroid hormone receptors (HRs) are ligand-activated transcription factors that play a pivotal role in breast development and carcinogenesis. It is well established that estrogen receptor (ER) signaling is a major proliferative driver in estrogen receptor ...

Lobular carcinoma represent the most common special histological subtype of breast cancer, with the majority classed as hormone receptor positive. Rates of invasive lobular carcinoma in postmenopausal women have been seen to increase globally, while other ...

Background Circadian rhythms regulate cellular physiology and could in fl uence the ef fi cacy of endocrine therapy (ET) in breast cancer (BC). We prospectively tested this hypothesis within the UNIRAD adjuvant phase III trial (NCT01805271). Methods 1278 p ...

The invention relates to methods for the preparation of method of preparation of Tau aggregates, including fibrils, fibrillar species, soluble and insoluble oligomeric species, new Tau aggregates and uses thereof. The invention further relates to the uses ...

The ER is the organelle of nucleated cells that produces lipids, sugars, and proteins. More than 20 ER-resident members of the protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) family regulate formation, isomerization, and disassembly of covalent bonds in newly synthesize ...

Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is a non-obligate precursor of invasive breast cancer. Virtually all women with DCIS are treated, despite evidence suggesting up to half would remain with stable, non-threatening, disease. Overtreatment thus presents a press ...

Simple Summary Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is the second most common histologic subtype of breast cancer and is often detected at an advanced stage. Up to 30% of ILC cases relapse and present a challenge for treatment. Unfortunately, there are few mod ...

The presurgical window of opportunity trial (WOT) MIPRA provides evidence that neoadjuvant treatment with the prog-esterone receptor (PR) antagonist mifepristone (RU486) may benefit patients with estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer characterized ...

Breast carcinoma is the most prevalent cancer among women globally. It has variable clinical courses depending on the stage and clinical-biological features. This case report describes a 56-year-old female with invasive breast cancer without estrogen or pr ...

Breast cancer is the most diagnosed malignancy in women worldwide, making effective prevention strategies crucial. Hormonal contraceptives, consisting of a synthetic progesterone receptor agonist alone or in combination with an estrogen, are used by millio ...

More than 70% of human breast cancers (BCs) are estrogen receptor α-positive (ER+). A clinical challenge of ER+ BC is that they can recur decades after initial treatments. Mechanisms governing latent disease remain elusive due to lack of adequate in vivo m ...

Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is the most frequent special histological subtype of breast cancer, typically characterized by loss of E‐cadherin. It has clinical features distinct from other estrogen receptor‐positive (ER+) breast cancers but the molecul ...

Estrogen hormones are implicated in a majority of breast cancers and estrogen receptor alpha (ER), the main nuclear factor mediating estrogen signaling, orchestrates a complex molecular circuitry that is not yet fully elucidated. Here, we investigated geno ...

Compared to estrogen receptor-negative (ER-) breast cancer (BC), ER+ BC often manifests with a latent disease that recurs decades after initial diagnosis. The mechanisms governing dormancy and distant recurrence of ER+ tumors remain elusive due to the lack ...

Loss of mitochondrial function and proteostasis typify aging and age-associated degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and muscle aging. To date, no cure or preventive measure is available to manage these conditions. Alterations of cellular pro ...

Progesterone is considered as the pregnancy hormone and acts on many different target tissues. Progesterone receptor (PR) signaling is important for normal development and the physiologic function of the breast and impinges on breast carcinogenesis. Both s ...

17 beta-Estradiol induces the postnatal development of mammary gland and influences breast carcinogenesis by binding to the estrogen receptor ER alpha. ER alpha acts as a transcription factor but also elicits rapid signaling through a fraction of ER alpha ...

Increasing evidence suggests that amyloid polymorphism gives rise to different strains of amyloids with distinct toxicities and pathology-spreading properties. Validating this hypothesis is challenging due to a lack of tools and methods that allow for the ...

Background Estrogen receptor alpha (ER alpha) signaling is a defining and driving event in most breast cancers; ER alpha is detected in malignant epithelial cells of 75% of all breast cancers (classified as ER-positive breast cancer) and, in these cases, E ...

The misfolding and self-assembly of proteins into fibrils is a hallmark of several neurodegenerative and systemic diseases. These disease-associated proteins have the propensity to form fibrils with a cross-β sheet structure, called amyloids. Amyloids can ...
