Imagerie par résonance magnétique

L'imagerie par résonance magnétique (IRM) est une technique d' permettant d'obtenir des vues en deux ou en trois dimensions de l'intérieur du corps de façon non invasive avec une résolution en contraste relativement élevée. L'IRM repose sur le principe de la résonance magnétique nucléaire (RMN) qui utilise les propriétés quantiques des noyaux atomiques pour la spectroscopie en analyse chimique. L'IRM nécessite un champ magnétique puissant et stable produit par un aimant supraconducteur qui crée une magnétisation des tissus par alignement des moments magnétiques de spin.

Magnetic resonance angiography

Magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is a group of techniques based on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to image blood vessels. Magnetic resonance angiography is used to generate images of arteries (and less commonly veins) in order to evaluate them for stenosis (abnormal narrowing), occlusions, aneurysms (vessel wall dilatations, at risk of rupture) or other abnormalities. MRA is often used to evaluate the arteries of the neck and brain, the thoracic and abdominal aorta, the renal arteries, and the legs (the latter exam is often referred to as a "run-off").
