Upcoming wide-field surveys, such as the Rubin Observatory's Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), will monitor thousands of strongly lensed quasars over a 10 yr period. Many of these monitored quasars will undergo high-magnification events (HMEs) throug ...

Context. Cluster cosmology can benefit from combining multi-wavelength studies. In turn, these studies benefit from a characterisation of the correlation coefficients among different mass-observable relations. Aims. In this work, we aim to provide informat ...

Accurately measuring behavior is critical to understanding brain function. While traditional behavioral analysis has relied on human observation and manual processing, advances in machine learning and computer vision have begun to automate the field. This ...

The origin of obscuration in active galactic nuclei (AGNs) is still an open debate. In particular, it is unclear what drives the relative contributions to the line-of-sight column densities from galaxy-scale and torus-linked obscuration. The latter source ...

In the current Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI) survey, emission line galaxies (ELGs) and luminous red galaxies (LRGs) are essential for mapping the dark matter distribution at < N(M)>. We measure the auto and cross correlation functions of ELGs ...

DNA-wrapped single-walled carbon nanotubes (DNA-SWCNTs) have demonstrated great versatility as optical sensors. SWCNTs emit a near-infrared fluorescence that is responsive to the slightest changes in their environment, enabling the creation of sensors that ...

Deep neural networks (DNN) have become an essential tool to tackle challenging tasks in many fields of computer science. However, their high computational complexity limits their applicability. Specialized DNN accelerators have been developed to accommodat ...

Modeling the mass distribution of galaxy-scale strong gravitational lenses is a task of increasing difficulty. The high-resolution and depth of imaging data now available render simple analytical forms ineffective at capturing lens structures spanning a la ...

We present high signal-to-noise measurements of three-point shear correlations and the third moment of the mass aperture statistic using the first 3 years of data from the Dark Energy Survey. We additionally obtain the first measurements of the configurati ...

Near-term quantum devices can be used to build quantum machine learning models, such as quantum kernel methods and quantum neural networks (QNN), to perform classification tasks. There have been many proposals on how to use variational quantum circuits as ...

Modern cities dynamically face several challenges including digitalization, sustainability, resilience and economic development. Urban planners and designers must develop urban forms that address these challenges. With the integration of new communication ...

Tuberculosis (TB) is a major global health challenge, with approximately 1.4 million deaths per year. There is still a need to develop novel treatments for patients infected with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). There have been many large-scale phenotypic ...

The Complete Calibration of the Color-Redshift Relation (C3R2) survey is obtaining spectroscopic redshifts in order to map the relation between galaxy color and redshift to a depth of i similar to 24.5 (AB). The primary goal is to enable sufficiently accur ...

Long acquisition times preclude the application of multiecho spin echo (MESE) sequences for myelin water fraction (MWF) mapping in daily clinical practice. In search of alternative methods, previous studies of interest explored the biophysical modeling of ...

We investigate the role of dense megaparsec-scale environments in processing molecular gas of cluster galaxies as they fall into the cluster cores. We selected a sample of similar to 20 luminous infrared galaxies (LIRGs) belonging to intermediate-redshift ...

Galaxy intrinsic alignment (IA) is a source of both systematic contamination of cosmic shear measurement and its cosmological applications and valuable information on the large-scale structure of the universe and galaxy formation. The self-calibration (SC) ...

We present a blind time-delay cosmographic analysis for the lens system DES J0408-5354. This system is extraordinary for the presence of two sets of multiple images at different redshifts, which provide the opportunity to obtain more information at the cos ...

We present our analysis of the FLAMES dataset targeting the central 25 ' region of the Sextans dwarf spheroidal galaxy (dSph). This dataset is the third major part of the high-resolution spectroscopic section of the ESO large program 171.B-0588(A) obtained ...

The combination of galaxy-galaxy lensing (GGL) and redshift space distortion of galaxy clustering (RSD) is a privileged technique to test general relativity predictions and break degeneracies between the growth rate of structure parameter f and the amplitu ...
