We initiate the study of certain families of L-functions attached to characters of subgroups of higher-rank tori, and of their average at the central point. In particular, we evaluate the average of the values L( 2 1 , chi a )L( 21 , chi b ) for arbitrary ...

Recently, we have applied the generalized Littlewood theorem concerning contour integrals of the logarithm of the analytical function to find the sums over inverse powers of zeros for the incomplete gamma and Riemann zeta functions, polygamma functions, an ...

As large, data-driven artificial intelligence models become ubiquitous, guaranteeing high data quality is imperative for constructing models. Crowdsourcing, community sensing, and data filtering have long been the standard approaches to guaranteeing or imp ...

Recently, we have established and used the generalized Littlewood theorem concerning contour integrals of the logarithm of an analytical function to obtain a few new criteria equivalent to the Riemann hypothesis. Here, the same theorem is applied to calcul ...

We prove that the coefficients of a GL3 x GL2 Rankin-Selberg L-function do not correlate with a wide class of trace functions of small conductor modulo primes, generalizing the corresponding result of Fouvry, Kowalski, and Michel for GL2 and of Kowalski, L ...

Nonlinear optical frequency conversion is of fundamental importance in photonics and underpins countless of its applications: Sum- and difference-frequency generation in media with quadratic nonlinearity permits reaching otherwise inaccessible wavelength r ...

In this thesis we consider the problem of estimating the correlation of Hecke eigenvalues of GL2 automorphic forms with a class of functions of algebraic origin defined over finite fields called trace functions. The class of trace functions is vast and inc ...

The Dolev-Reischuk bound says that any deterministic Byzantine consensus protocol has (at least) quadratic (in the number of processes) communication complexity in the worst case: given a system with n processes and at most f < n/3 failures, any solution t ...

In materials, certain approximated symmetry operations can exist in a lower-order approximation of the effective model but are good enough to influence the physical responses of the system, and these approximated symmetries were recently dubbed "quasisymme ...

In this paper, we prove strong subconvexity bounds for self-dual GL(3) L-functions in the t-aspect and for GL(3) x GL(2) L-functions in the GL(2)-spectral aspect. The bounds are strong in the sense that they are the natural limit of the moment method pione ...

We study the elliptic curves given by y(2) = x(3) + bx + t(3n+1) over global function fields of characteristic 3 ; in particular we perform an explicit computation of the L-function by relating it to the zeta function of a certain superelliptic curve u(3) ...

We study p-adic families of cohomological automorphic forms for GL(2) over imaginary quadratic fields and prove that families interpolating a Zariski-dense set of classical cuspidal automorphic forms only occur under very restrictive conditions. We show ho ...

We propose nonparametric estimators for the second-order central moments of possibly anisotropic spherical random fields, within a functional data analysis context. We consider a measurement framework where each random field among an identically distribute ...

Thin beams made of magnetorheological elastomers embedded with hard-magnetic particles (hard-MREs) are capable of large deflections under an applied magnetic field. We propose a comprehensive framework, comprising a beam model and 3D finite element modelin ...

We consider fundamental algorithmic number theoretic problems and their relation to a class of block structured Integer Linear Programs (ILPs) called 2-stage stochastic. A 2-stage stochastic ILP is an integer program of the form min{c(T)x vertical bar Ax = ...

Many robotics problems are formulated as optimization problems. However, most optimization solvers in robotics are locally optimal and the performance depends a lot on the initial guess. For challenging problems, the solver will often get stuck at poor loc ...

Let f(z)=q+∑n≥2a(n)qn be a weight k normalized newform with integer coefficients and trivial residual mod 2 Galois representation. We extend the results of Amir and Hong in Amir and Hong (On L-functions of modular elliptic curves and certain K3 surfaces, R ...

This study aims to explore the possibility of estimating a multitude of kinematic and dynamic quantities using subject-specific musculoskeletal models in real-time. The framework was designed to operate with marker-based and inertial measurement units enab ...

This work proposes a novel strategy for social learning by introducing the critical feature of adaptation. In social learning, several distributed agents update continually their belief about a phenomenon of interest through: i) direct observation of strea ...

Conventionally, nonreciprocity in time-varying systems is achieved by exploiting both temporal and spatial modulations. In this paper, we introduce a concept of magnetless bianisotropic time-modulated systems that support nonreciprocal wave propagation at ...
