Signal Amplification by Reversible Exchange (SABRE) is an attractive nuclear spin hyperpolarization technique capable of huge sensitivity enhancement in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) detection. The resonance condition of SABRE hyperpolarization depends ...

There has been significant recent interest in differentiating multicomponent solid forms, such as salts and cocrystals, and, where appropriate, in determining the position of the proton in the X-H center dot center dot center dot A-Y X-center dot center do ...

Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) and Selective Laser Melting (SLM) are parent Additive Manufacturing processes using a laser to solidify metallic, ceramic, polymer or composite powders. During the process, the object is built layer by layer. A laser source ...

Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is used for a large array of applications, ranging from chemical characterization to oil drilling to medical imaging. In these fields NMR is used as an investigational tool, but new techniques and applications are continuou ...

The high-field magnetization, M(H), of Ni-5(TeO3)(4)X-2 (X = Br, Cl) was measured by using a pulse magnet. These compounds have a two-dimensional crystal structure and a distorted Kagome spin frustrated system which is built from the Ni2+ ions (S = 1). The ...

Previous state-selected spectra of methanol in the 5ν1 OH stretch overtone region [O. V. Boyarkin, T. R. Rizzo, and D. S. Perry, J. Chem. Phys. 110 (23), 11346 (1999)] revealed structure indicating intramolecular vibrational redistribution (IVR) on three t ...

We report the design and application of a prism-based detection system for fluorescence (cross) correlation spectroscopy. The system utilizes a single laser wavelength for the simultaneous excitation of several dyes of different emission spectra. Fluoresce ...

A detailed characterization of the time scales and mechanisms by which RNA molecules change their folding structure upon binding of metabolites or during catalysis is important for the understanding of the different biological functions of RNA. The folding ...

Microfabricated probes for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy of living cells in very small quantities have been developed in this thesis. These microprobes are based on two different sample interfaces: Channel microprobes, which confine a stack ...

A series of ruthenium, osmium and rhodium complexes utilizing pta, (1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo-[3.3.1.1]decane) and pta-Me+, its N-methyl derivative, have been synthesized. Their characterization by 1H and 31P NMR spectroscopy, ESI-MS and single crysta ...

The heterotritopic ligand [bpy(DTTA)2]8- has two diethylenediamine-tetraacetate units for selective lanthanide(III) coordination and one bipyridine function for selective FeII coordination. In aqueous solution and in the presence of these metals, the ligan ...

Reaction of the dimer [(η5-C5Me5)RhCl(μ2-Cl)]2 with 2 or 4 equiv of the water-soluble phosphine 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo[3.3.1.1]decane (pta) affords [Rh(η5-C5Me< ...

The choice of an adequate actuation method is a central issue in the development of any mechatronic device and strongly determines the dynamic performances of the system. This choice is particularly difficult for robotic systems working within a magnetic r ...

12-Metallacrown-3 complexes were formed by self-assembly of organometallic half-sandwich complexes [(π-ligand)MCl2]2 (M = Ru, Rh, Ir) and 3-hydroxy-2-pyridone ligands in the presence of Cs2CO3 as base. Upon mixing of different macrocycles, reversible metal ...

Photoacoustic spectroscopy is a widely recognised technique to measure trace gases at parts-per-million (ppm) or parts-per-billion (ppb) level using semiconductor laser in the near infrared range. This technique is based on the generation of an acoustic wa ...

A DTPA-based chelate containing one phosphinate group was conjugated to a generation 5 polyamidoamine (PAMAM) dendrimer via a benzylthiourea linkage. The Gd(III) complex of this novel conjugate has potential as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imagi ...

Fiber laser systems have the potential to represent an interesting alternative to more conventional laser sources emitting in the visible spectral range. In this contribution we present new results based on fluoride Pr/Yb- doped fiber systems. This Pr/Yb-d ...

Fluorescence cross-correlation spectroscopy is a powerful method for the study of molecular interactions and dynamics in solution and even in living cells. Usually, in the optical setup, either two laser beams have to be superimposed in their respective co ...

We describe the use of stimulated Raman pumping in a molecular beam to perform quantum state resolved gas-surface reactivity measurements for molecules prepared in totally symmetric vibrational states. Vibrational states of homonuclear diatomics as well as ...

The excitation spectrum of a model magnetic system, LiHoF4, was studied with the use of neutron spectroscopy as the system was tuned to its quantum critical point by an applied magnetic field. The electronic mode softening expected for a quantum phase tran ...
