Full control over the density and emission properties of GaN quantum dots (QDs) should be feasible, provided that the growth proceeds in the Stranski-Krastanov (SK) growth mode. In this work, we derive the phase diagram for GaN QD formation on AlN by NH3-m ...

Quasi-one-dimensional AlGaAs quantum wires (QWRs) with parabolic heterostructure profiles along their axis were fabricated using metallorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) On patterned (111)B GaAs substrates. Tailoring of the confined electronic states via ...

We demonstrate the growth of defect-free zinc-blende GaAs nanomembranes by molecular beam epitaxy. Our growth studies indicate a strong impact of As-4 re-emission and shadowing in the growth rate of the structures. The highest aspect ratio structures are o ...

We demonstrate hybrid laser diodes by combining n-type layers and an active region grown by metal organic vapor phase epitaxy with p-type layers grown by molecular beam epitaxy. These p-doped layers, grown at 740 degrees C, exhibit state-of-the-art electri ...

Topological qubits based on Majorana Fermions have the potential to revolutionize the emerging field of quantum computing by making information processing significantly more robust to decoherence. Nanowires are a promising medium for hosting these kinds of ...

Over the last two decades III-nitride optoelectronic devices have experienced an impressive evolution in terms of performance. However, their potential is far from being fully exploited. Although they offer bandgaps from the deep UV to the infrared spectra ...

By two‐step sequential Pb2+ adsorption and reaction with methylammonium‐iodide (MAI) or ‐bromide (MABr) at a low concentration level of 0.06–0.10 m over mesoporous TiO2 or ZrO2 film, a well‐defined nanoscale CH3NH3PbI3 (MAPbI3) photosensitizer or CH3NH3PbB ...

Gallium arsenide is currently under scrutiny for replacing silicon in microelectronic devices due to its high carrier mobilities. However, the widespread use of this semiconductor is hampered by the intrinsic difficulty of producing high-quality interfaces ...

Reliable doping is required to realize many devices based on semiconductor nanowires. Group IIIV nanowires show great promise as elements of high-speed optoelectronic devices, but for such applications it is important that the electron mobility is not comp ...

This thesis is dedicated to the growth and characterization of the optoelectronic properties of III-V semiconductor nanostructures namely nanowires and nanoscale membranes. III-V semiconductors possess promising intrinsic properties like direct band gap, h ...

Unexpected disruptions occur for many reasons in railway networks and cause delays, cancelations, and, eventually, passenger inconvenience. This research focuses on the railway timetable rescheduling problem from a macroscopic point of view in case of larg ...

We describe the fabrication, epitaxial growth and photoluminescence (PL) spectra of systems of site-controlled pyramidal quantum dots (QDs) integrated with photonic crystal (PhC) membrane cavities. The spectra of the individual QDs are characterized by sca ...

Physical properties of surfaces are extremely important for initiation and nucleation of crystal growth, including nanowires. In recent years, fluctuations in surface characteristics have often been related to unreproducible growth of GaAs nanowires on Si ...

We demonstrate the self-formation of hexagonal nanotemplates on GaAs (111)B substrates patterned with arrays of inverted tetrahedral pyramids during metal-organic vapor phase epitaxy and its role in producing high-symmetry, site-controlled quantum dots (QD ...

With the continued maturation of III-V nanowire research, expectations of material quality should be concomitantly raised. Ideally, III-V nanowires integrated on silicon should be entirely free of extended planar defects such as twins, stacking faults, or ...

We report a systematic study of the photoluminescence (PL) properties of a series of nearly lattice-matched (LM) GaN/(Al,In)N single quantum well (SQW) samples, with well thickness ranging from 1.5 to 5 nm, grown by metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy. Temper ...

We report on the epitaxial growth of high-quality core-shell nonpolar m-plane GaN/InAlN multiple quantum wells (MQWs) on the sidewall facets of c-oriented hexagonal GaN wires. Pseudomorphic growth without generation of threading dislocations has been estab ...

We report on the use of photonic resonances in Raman spectroscopy on single nanowires for the enhancement of forbidden modes and the study of the interaction of phonons with free-carriers. This is achieved by suspending nanowire over a trench and detecting ...
