The following data contain the information and files, which are required to recreate and build the experimental setup that is described in the Laboratory manual. Further details can be found in the associated publication “A graduate laboratory experiment t ...

The comprehension of physical wave phenomena is imperative for students in the fields of engineering and basic sciences. Laboratory experiments that involve generation of acoustic waves can be used to explain advanced nonlinear wave phenomena. Acoustic lev ...

Recent TCV experiments confirm the predicted formation of an electric potential well, below the magnetic X-point, in configurations with unfavorable

We present the first steps to develop radiation sensors based on the graphene field effect transistor technology. Such a sensor exploits the ambipolar behavior of graphene near its Dirac point and it is not dependent on collecting charges, but it senses io ...

This paper presents a modeling approach to simulate the impact of total ionizing dose (TID) degradation on low-power analog and mixed-signal circuits. The modeling approach has been performed on 180-nm n-type metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transist ...

Increasing material costs and emerging applications have steered research trends towards compacter and therefore faster drives. The arising challenges of miniaturization have made contactless magnetic levitation increasingly attractive, which offer practic ...

In this paper, a novel configuration of frictionless diamagnetic levitation combined with electrostatic glass motor is presented. A 12.5 mm diameter disc shaped rotor comprised of pyrolytic graphite and glass is fabricated. The rotor disc is levitated stab ...

Electrodynamic Bearings (EDBs) are a kind of passive magnetic bearings that exploits the interaction between the induced eddy currents in a conductor and a magnetic field to provide re-storing forces. They have been regarded as an appealing alternative to ...

Acousto-optical coherence tomography (AOCT) is a variant of acousto-optic imaging (also called ultrasound modulated optical tomography) that makes possible to get resolution along the ultrasound propagation axis z. We present here AOCT experimental results ...

The cycling dynamics of the internal kink mode, which drives sawtooth oscillations in tokamak plasmas, is studied using the three dimensional, non-linear magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) code XTOR-2F [H. Lütjens and J.-F. Luciani, J. Comput. Phys. 229, 8130 (2010 ...

Fourier or spectral domain optical coherence tomography (FDOCT) is a multi-dimensional interferometric imaging modality that has attracted increasing interest during the last few years. The reason is its outstanding sensitivity allowing high speed 2D and 3 ...

Magnetic levitation is an interesting concept in applications where friction and wear-particle contamination should be avoided. In this respect, a former study has shown that diamagnetic levitation, in conjunction with an electrodynamic impulse drive, is a ...

Diamagnetic levitation is the only passive levitation at room temperature. It is interesting to use this principle for a contactless conveyor in applications where friction and wear-particle contamination should be avoided such as in a microfactory. Using ...

Worldwide high speed Maglev (> 400km/h) developments refer to Maglev such as the Japanese JR-Maglev MLX, the German Transrapid and the USA Inductrack Maglev. Other world projects exist such as the Japan HSST (< 300km/h) and the China HTC. The JR-Maglev, th ...
