Dynamic ON-resistance (RON) in GaN HEMTs is a critical issue for power electronics efficiency. This paper proposes a novel method to measure dynamic (RON) under long-term OFF-state drain-stress and steady-state soft-switching, comparing Schottky-type (GaN- ...

In two-stage solid-state transformers with input-series output-parallel structure, the LLC converter operating at a fixed switching frequency is a common choice for the isolated DC/DC conversion stage because it can provide a high efficiency and a fixed vo ...

The medium-voltage (MV) dual active bridge (DAB) converter with series-connected SiC (S-SiC) MOSFETs is a promising solution for high-power-density isolated dc/dc converter. To improve the voltage sharing and reliability of S-SiC, relatively large snubber ...

The versatility of half-bridge configuration of silicon carbide (SiC) metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor (MOSFET) power module contributes to its widespread adoption, highlighting the popularity and significance of its corresponding dual gat ...

The shift towards DC power distribution networks, enabled by power electronics technologies, is changing the nature of electrical power systems. Nowadays, DC power distribution networks can effectively support the high penetration of distributed energy res ...

This paper focuses on the operational characteristics of a medium voltage resonant DC transformer based on a split capacitor IGCT 3L-NPC leg. The study delves into both the dynamic and static balancing aspects of the 3L-NPC when operating in a two-level, 5 ...

In traditional power delivery networks, the on-chip supply voltage is provided by board-level converters. Due to the significant distance between the converter and the load, variations in the load current are not effectively managed, producing a significan ...

Modern power distribution systems are experiencing a large-scale integration of Converter-Interfaced Distributed Energy Resources (CIDERs). Their presence complicates the analysis and mitigation of harmonics, whose creation and propagation may be amplified ...

Solid-State Transformers with Input-Series/Output-Parallel configuration offer a convenient solution for AC/DC conversion due to their scalability and modularity. In this configuration, each module experiences a second-order harmonic ripple caused by local ...

Solid-State Transformers with Input-Series/Output- Parallel configuration offer a convenient solution for AC/DC power conversion, thanks to their modularity, scalability and flexibility. However, as known, they are affected by a second-order harmonic rippl ...

This article proposes a new two-wired amplifying active electrode (AE), presenting a high input impedance and a high common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR). In the proposed structure, the input impedance and the CMRR of the system are considerably increased by ...

Solid-state transformers with input-series outputparallel structures are being considered for a variety of applications requiring MVAC to LVDC conversion. Due to the singlephase AC/DC conversion at the input side, all floating cells of the solid-state tran ...

Dual-channel gate driver is commonly utilized in the industry for accommodating the widespread use of half-bridge power modules. As wide-bandgap devices become increasingly prevalent due to their superior switching characteristics compared with conventiona ...

The need of full transposition of the current carrying elements (strands) in large cables is frequently retained as top design criterion for conductors operating in pulsed mode. However, when the transposition error, i.e., the inductance difference among t ...

The auxiliary power supply for medium voltage converters requires high insulation capability between the source and the load. Inductive power transfer technology, with an air gap between the primary and secondary coil, offers such high insulation capabilit ...

In this work, we present a concept that leverages the strong piezoelectric polarization field in InGaN, which counteracts the external electric field at reverse bias. We show that despite the smaller InGaN band-gap and lower critical electric field, its st ...

We present a single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) developed in 55 nm bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCD) technology, which achieves high photon detection probability (PDP) while its breakdown voltage is lower than 20 V. To enhance the PDP performance, the SPAD junctio ...

Implanted medical devices (IMDs) have been widely developed to support the monitoring and recording of biological data inside the body or brain. Wirelessly powered IMDs, a subset of implantable electronics, have been proposed to eliminate the limitations r ...

A modular multiple frequency coils inductive link system to wirelessly provide power for at least a medical implant at an output of a receiving coil, whereby the receiving coil is configured to be implanted in an organism. The modular multiple frequency co ...

Dielectric Elastomer Actuators (DEAs) are a type of smart material described as compliant capacitors. They show impressive performances as soft actuators, such as a high strain and fast response. Nonetheless, replicating natural muscle function with DEAs h ...
