Macrocycles are an attractive class of molecules due to their good binding properties and yet rather small size that allows, in many cases, crossing membranes to reach intracellular targets. In comparison to classical small molecule drugs, macrocycles are ...

Lithium represents the main drug for the treatment of Bipolar Disorder (BD) as it acts as a mood stabilizer. However, because of its narrow therapeutic window, psychiatric patients are obliged to frequent tests in hospital to control their lithium blood co ...

Water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC) is a ubiquitous and significant fraction of fine particulate matter. Despite advances in aerosol thermodynamic equilibrium models, there is limited understanding on the comprehensive impacts of WSOC on aerosol acidity (p ...

Helium nanodroplets are liquid, finite size, nanoscale helium clusters that have been employed since the 1990s as a matrix for high-resolution spectroscopy of molecules. Spectroscopic studies of ionic species inside helium droplets were not however realise ...

In recent years ionic liquids have emerged as an important class of compounds for the synthesis of metal nanoparticles. The significant advantage of using ionic liquids is their dual role of reaction solvent and nanoparticle stabilizer. The variability of ...

A room temperature ionic liquid (IL) composed of a quaternary alkylphosphonium (trihexyltetradecylphosphonium, P66614(+)) and tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl) borate anion (TB) was employed within a water| P66614TB (w|P66614TB or w|IL) biphasic system to evalua ...

Hydrogen bonding in ionic liquids based on the 1-(2'-hydroxylethyl)-3-methylimidazolium cation (C(2)OHmim) and various anions (A) of differing H-bond acceptor strength, viz. hexafluorophosphate PF6, tetrafluoroborate BF4, bis-(trifluoro ...

The suitability of residue sand (the coarse fraction remaining from Bayer´s process of bauxite refining) for constructing the surface cover of closed bauxite residue storage areas was investigated. Specifically, its properties as a medium for plant growth ...

Reaction of the zwitterionic imidazolium salt [(CH2COOH)(CH2COO)i.m.] with K2CO3 or BaO in the presence of 18-crown-6 affords the salts [(CH2COO)2i.m.][K(18-crown-6)] and [(CH2COO)2i.m.]2[Ba(18-crown-6)]. Recrystn. of these crown complexes from the ionic l ...

Platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs stabilized by an ionic-liq.-like-copolymer (IP) immobilized in various ionic liqs. (ILs)) effectively catalyze the selective hydrogenation of arom. chloronitro compds. to arom. chloroamines, a reaction of considerable com. sig ...

A new macrocyclic ligand,

L^3

, has been synthesised, based on the cyclen framework grafted with three phenacyl light-harvesting groups and a C5-alkyl chain bearing a carboxylic acid function as a potential linker for biological material. Acidity constant ...

The mol. vol. Vm (i.e., the sum of the ionic vols. Vion of the constituent ions) of an ionic liq. (IL) in combination with an anion-dependent empirical relationship is all one needs to predict phys. properties such as viscosity, cond., and d. of [N(CN)2]-, ...

The ionic liquid crystal [C12-mim]Cl has been doped with 5 mol% europium nitrate and the photophysical properties of both the ionic liquid and the trivalent europium ion have been monitored with respect to temperature in the range of 248 to +120 uC. The re ...
