Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is overexpressed on the surface of cancerous prostate cells both in primary tumors and in metastases. Small organic ligands targeting PSMA have been broadly and successfully use ...

Solid-state nanopores offer the possibility of detecting disease biomarkers in early diagnostic applications. Standard approaches harness fingerprinting, where protein targets are bound to DNA carriers and detected in free translocation with a solid-state ...

An amplitude analysis of the Ds1(2460)+→Ds+π+π- transition is performed simultaneously in B0→D-Ds+π+π-, B+→D¯0Ds+π+π-, and B0→D*-Ds+π+π- decays. The study is based on a data sample of proton-proton collisions recorded with the LHCb detector at centre-of-ma ...

The biomass burning organic aerosol (BBOA) was quantified and characterized during a period of elevated emissions from residential heating at a Mediterranean urban area. Positive Matrix Factorization (PMF) of the measurements from a high-resolution time-of ...

The transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) family member activin A (hereafter Activin-A) is overexpressed in many cancer types, often correlating with cancer-associated cachexia and poor prognosis. Activin-A secretion by melanoma cells indirectly imped ...

The exploration of electronically excited states and the study of diverse photochemical and photophysical processes are the main goals of molecular electronic spectroscopy. Exact quantum-mechanical simulation of such experiments is, however, beyond current ...

DEMO will have a limited diagnostic set for optimization of reactor performance, and limited diagnostic coverage due to challenging reactor conditions. This poses challenges for control, especially for detachment control which is planned to be performed wi ...

The present invention relates to 6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine prodrugs having reduced toxicity and increased tumor specificity and to their therapeutic use for treating cancer. ...

Dendritic cells (DCs) are specialized myeloid cells with the ability to uptake, process, and present antigens to T lymphocytes. They also generate cytokine and chemokine gradients that regulate immune cell trafficking, activation, and function. Monocyte-de ...

Metabolic changes precede malignant histology. However, it remains unclear whether detectable characteristic metabolome exists in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) tissues and biofluids for early diagnosis. Here, we conduct NMR- and MS-based metabo ...

Breast cancer is a significant global health burden, causing a substantial number of deaths. Systemic metastatic tumour cell dissemination is a major cause of poor outcomes. Understanding the mechanisms underlying metastasis is crucial for effective interv ...

Early tumor detection is crucial for maximizing treatment effectiveness and the chances of recovery. Currently, medical doctors rely on the combination of non-specific (X-ray, MRI, CT) or invasive (PET) imaging modalities and the analysis of tissue samples ...

Fluorescent probes are an indispensable tool in the realm of bioimaging technologies, providing valuable insights into the assessment of biomaterial integrity and structural properties. However, incorporating fluorophores into scaffolds made from melt elec ...

Cancer cell plasticity contributes to therapy resistance and metastasis, which represent the main causes of cancer-related death, including in breast cancer. The tumor microenvironment drives cancer cell plasticity and metastasis, and unraveling the underl ...

While largely neglected over decades during which adaptive immunity captured most of the attention, innate immune mechanisms have now become central to our understanding of immunology. Innate immunity provides the first barrier to infection in vertebrates, ...

This dataset accompanies the publication "Best practices in measuring absorption at the macro- and microscale" published in APL Photonics. The data can be used to reproduce original plots in figures 1-4 in the main text and all original plots in the suppor ...

Heterochromatin loss and genetic instability enhance cancer progression by favoring clonal diversity, yet uncontrolled replicative stress leads to mitotic catastrophe and inflammatory responses that promote immune rejection. KRAB domain-containing zinc fin ...

Curcuminoids and their complexes continue to attract attention in medicinal chemistry, but little attention has been given to their metabolic derivatives. Here, the first examples of (arene)Ru(II) complexes with curcuminoid metabolites, tetrahydrocurcumin ...

Infrared and Raman spectroscopies are ubiquitous techniques employed in many experimental laboratories, thanks to their fast and non-destructive nature able to capture materials' features as spectroscopic fingerprints. Nevertheless, these measurements freq ...

Over the past decade, quantum photonics platforms aiming at harnessing the fundamental properties of single particles, such as quantum superposition and quantum entanglement, have flourished. In this context, single-photon emitters capable of operating at ...
