In this paper, we study the rank-one convex hull of a differential inclusion associated to entropy solutions of a hyperbolic system of conservation laws. This was introduced in [B. Kirchheim, S. Muller and V. S(sic)ver & aacute;k, Studying Nonlinear PDE by ...

In this thesis we consider the problem of estimating the correlation of Hecke eigenvalues of GL2 automorphic forms with a class of functions of algebraic origin defined over finite fields called trace functions. The class of trace functions is vast and inc ...

We propose a method for sensor array self-localization using a set of sources at unknown locations. The sources produce signals whose times of arrival are registered at the sensors. We look at the general case where neither the emission times of the source ...

In this paper, we present a spatial branch and bound algorithm to tackle the continuous pricing problem, where demand is captured by an advanced discrete choice model (DCM). Advanced DCMs, like mixed logit or latent class models, are capable of modeling de ...

Within the context of contemporary machine learning problems, efficiency of optimization process depends on the properties of the model and the nature of the data available, which poses a significant problem as the complexity of either increases ad infinit ...

We address black-box convex optimization problems, where the objective and constraint functions are not explicitly known but can be sampled within the feasible set. The challenge is thus to generate a sequence of feasible points converging towards an optim ...

Sylvester matrix equations are ubiquitous in scientific computing. However, few solution techniques exist for their generalized multiterm version, as they now arise in an increasingly large number of applications. In this work, we consider algebraic parame ...

Phase transitions in non-Hermitian systems are at the focus of cutting edge theoretical and experimental research. On the one hand, parity-time- (PT-) and anti-PT-symmetric physics have gained ever-growing interest, due to the existence of non-Hermitian sp ...

We present LISA, a proof system and proof assistant for constructing proofs in schematic first-order logic and axiomatic set theory. The logical kernel of the system is a proof checker for first-order logic with equality and schematic predicate and fun ...

A hash proof system (HPS) is a form of implicit proof of membership to a language. Out of the very few existing post-quantum HPS, most are based on languages of ciphertexts of code-based or lattice-based cryptosystems and inherently suffer from a gap cause ...

In the framework of Impagliazzo's five worlds, a distinction is often made between two worlds, one where public-key encryption exists (Cryptomania), and one in which only one-way functions exist (MiniCrypt). However, the boundaries between these worlds can ...
