yambo is an open source project aimed at studying excited state properties of condensed matter systems from first principles using many-body methods. As input, yambo requires ground state electronic structure data as computed by density functional theory c ...

Bloch surface waves (BSWs) are surface electromagnetic modes that propagate at the interface between a multilayer substrate and a homogeneous external medium. The optical field of the surface mode is confined near the surface of the multilayer. This vertic ...

In this study, we apply interferometric microscopy to study the phase, alongside the intensity, of the light field transmitted through a wide variety of samples. Additionally, we conduct those interferometric measurements at different wavelengths within th ...

We present our deep Y-band imaging data of a two square degree field within the F22 region of the VIMOS VLT Deep Survey. The observations were conducted using the WIRCam instrument mounted at the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT). The total on-sky time ...

There are many geometric calibration methods for "standard" cameras. These methods, however, cannot be used for the calibration of telescopes with large focal lengths and complex off-axis optics. Moreover, specialized calibration methods for the telescopes ...

Diffractive optical elements (DOEs) consist of surface reliefs with dimensions in the micrometer range and nanometer precision. Two technologies dominate: Elements replicated in plastic and directly microfabricated elements in fused silica. Plastic DOEs ar ...

A multi-camera hemispherical very wide field of view imaging apparatus with omnidirectional illumination capability comprises a cylindrical body (4, 4.a, 4.b), a hemispherical mechanical frame (2) arranged on one end of the cylindrical body (4, 4.a, 4.b), ...

During the fabrication process of microlenses, characterization is essential for two purposes: evaluate the optical quality of the element and provide surface information feedback for process optimization. However, no technique can fulfill these two object ...

Cloaking via transformation optics was introduced by Pendry, Schurig, and Smith for the Maxwell system and Leonhardt in the geometric optics setting. They used a singular change of variables which blows up a point into a cloaked region. The same transforma ...

One of the most essential building blocks in modem electronics is the flip-flop. A flip-flop operates bi-stably between two states, remaining at a given output level (high or low level) until a specific input control signal changes. For many years, photoni ...

We report more than 30dB second harmonic generation enhancement in SiN waveguide by all-optical writing of a persistent χ(2) grating. Phase matching peaks are observed for different writing wavelengths. ...

This work evaluates the changes in radiative properties of two decomposing carbonaceous porous materials, each composed of two semitransparent, homogeneous and isotropic phases. The understanding of the complex dependence of macroscopic optical behaviour o ...
