The manipulation of quantum materials by light constitutes a new emergent field in condensed matter systems. Strong light-matter coupling and ultrafast optics are powerful tools for inducing new quantum phases in strongly correlated systems, with one parti ...

Since the discovery of dissipative Kerr solitons in optical microresonators, significant progress has been made in the understanding of the underlying physical principles from the fundamental side and generation of broadband coherent optical Kerr frequency ...

The concept of soliton gas was introduced in 1971 by Zakharov as an infinite collection of weakly interacting solitons in the framework of Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation. In this theoretical construction of a diluted (rarefied) soliton gas, solitons with ...

We theoretically and experimentally investigate the formation of dissipative coherent structures in Kerr nonlinear optical microresonators, whose spectrum encompasses an integrated dispersion that exceeds the cavity free-spectral range. We are able to acce ...

Recently, substantial progress has been made in the understanding of microresonators frequency combs based on dissipative Kerr solitons (DKSs). However, most of the studies have focused on the single-resonator level. Coupled resonator systems can open new ...

Optical resonators enable the generation, manipulation, and storage of electromagnetic waves. The physics underlying their operation is determined by the interference of electromagnetic waves, giving rise to the resonance spectrum. This mechanism causes th ...

In this thesis, the generation of microcombs under complex, non-trivial, and/or higher-order cavity conditions is explored, both in theory & simulation, and in practical experimentation. Pulse-driving of microresonators is investigated for the generation ...

This talk will discuss recent advances in the nascent field of integrated photonic circuits for terahertz applications. This field explores photonic circuit technology to create miniaturized terahertz emitters and detectors by non-linear optical processes ...

Solitons are shape preserving waveforms that are ubiquitous across nonlinear dynamical systems from BEC to hydrodynamics, and fall into two separate classes: bright solitons existing in anomalous group velocity dispersion, and switching waves forming 'dark ...

Using phase-modulation-induced potential gradient whose period is synchronized to a microwave opto-electronic oscillator, dissipative Kerr solitons generated in a crystalline optical microresonator are trapped by the soliton tweezing effect, exhibiting a s ...

This paper demonstrates the capability of locally resonant metamaterials (LRMs) for creating compact metallic waveguide E- and H-bends, which are simultaneously working as bandpass filters. For creating these bent meta-filters, we use composite pin-pipe wa ...

Exceptional points are a ubiquitous concept widely present in driven-dissipative coupled systems described by a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian. To date, exceptional points have been extensively examined in the systems supporting only a few optical modes, thereb ...

In this thesis, the electromagnetic wave propagation is studied in nonstationary-medium scenarios. The electromagnetic fields under material time-modulation are shown to conserve their momentum but not their energy. The mathematical foundations and analysi ...

This thesis aims at investigating the performance of figure-9 (figure-of-nine) optical fiber resonators as a practical solution for light storage, light generation and manipulation. The first part of the thesis focuses on a theoretical and experimental stu ...

This paper proposes an alternative technique for the design of miniaturized waveguide filters based on locally resonant metamaterials (LRMs). We implement ultrasmall metamaterial filters (metafilters) by exploiting a subwavelength (sub-λ) guiding mechanism ...

Spin dynamics in skyrmion hosting materials provide novel functionality in magnonics because of the formation of a novel magnon band structure and the nanoscale sizes of magnetic skyrmions. In this thesis, we explore the spin dynamics in the chiral magnet ...

Optical frequency combs are optical sources, which spectrum consists of a series of equally spaced narrowband frequencies. They made an outstanding leap forward in the accuracy of optical frequency metrology and became an attractive tool for numerous appli ...

Optical soliton molecules are bound states of solitons that arise from the balance between attractive and repulsive effects. Having been observed in systems ranging from optical fibres to mode-locked lasers, they provide insights into the fundamental inter ...

Multistability in Kerr resonators which are driven by continuous or modulated optical waves gives rise to the superposition of distinct nonlinear states, yielding a unique platform for studying complex soliton dynamics. Here, by pumping a crystalline micro ...

We study Kerr frequency combs and dissipative Kerr solitons in silicon photonic crystal coupled-cavity waveguides (CCWs) with globally optimized dispersion at telecom wavelengths. The corresponding threshold for comb generation is found to explicitly depen ...
