Complex yet compact nanoscale mechanisms have largely been absent due to the rather limited availability of components and integration techniques. Especially missing have been efficient interconnects with adjustable characteristics. To address this issue, ...

We demonstrate an architecture for massively parallel frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) laser ranging (LiDAR) by transferring linear chirps of a single narrow linewidth laser onto all soliton comb teeth though generation of a dissipative Kerr soli ...

Recent works on Kerr frequency combs demonstrated the possibility to simultaneously generate multiple soliton states with different group velocities in a single microresonator, which could be beneficial for many applications utilizing dual-comb systems. In ...

Continuous-wave-driven Kerr nonlinear microresonators give rise to self-organization in terms of dissipative Kerr solitons, which constitute optical frequency combs that can be used to generate low-noise microwave signals. Here, by applying either amplitud ...

A light pulse source (100), being adapted for generating repetitive optical pulses (1), comprises a continuous wave cw laser device (10) being arranged for providing cw laser light (2), an optical waveguide (20) being optically coupled with the cw laser de ...

Metal-based drugs and imaging agents are extensively used in the clinic for the treatment and diagnosis of cancers and a wide range of other diseases. The current clinical arsenal of compounds operate via a limited number of mechanisms, whereas new putativ ...

Dielectric nanoresona tors uniquely support both magnetic and electric resonances across a wide wavelength range. They are thus being exploited in a growing number of groundbreaking applications. In particular, they have been recently suggested as promisin ...

The recently proposed concept of metamaterials has opened exciting venues to control wave-matter interactions in unprecedented ways. Here, we demonstrate the relevance of metamaterials for inducing acoustic birefringence, a phenomenon which has already fou ...

High-order-dispersion-induced dispersive waves emitted by dissipative Kerr solitons are frequently observed in microresonator frequency comb generation. Also known as soliton Cherenkov radiation, this type of dispersive wave plays a critical role in comb s ...

Dissipative Kerr solitons in optical microresonators combine nonlinear optical physics with photonic-integrated technologies. They are promising for a number of applications ranging from optical coherent communications to astrophysical spectrometer calibra ...

Silicon nitride has emerged as a prominent platform for building photonics integrated circuits. While its nonlinear properties based on third-order effects have been successfully exploited, an efficient second harmonic generation in standard stoichiometric ...

Optical-frequency combs, that is spectra of equidistant coherent optical lines, have revolutionized the precision measurements of time and frequency. In 2007 a new method to generate optical frequency combs was discovered. In contrast to conventional gener ...

Acoustic resonators play a key role in the development of subwavelength-sized technologies capable of interacting with airborne audible sound, from its emission and absorption to its manipulation and processing. Specifically, artificial acoustic media made ...
