Sentiment analysis is the automated coding of emotions expressed in text. Sentiment analysis and other types of analyses focusing on the automatic coding of textual documents are increasingly popular in psychology and computer science. However, the potenti ...

Neuromorphic computing is a wide research field aimed to the realization of brain-inspired hardware, apt to tackle computation of unstructured data more efficiently than currently done with standard computational units. Oscillatory neural networks are know ...

This paper addresses the general problem of blind echo retrieval, i.e., given M sensors measuring in the discrete-time domain M mixtures of K delayed and attenuated copies of an unknown source signal, can the echo locations and weights be recovered? This p ...

Reconfigurable finite-impulse response (FIR) filters are one of the most widely implemented components in Internet of Things systems that require flexibility to support several target applications while consuming the minimum amount of power to comply with ...

We present a novel implementation strategy for distributed autoregressive moving average (ARMA) graph filters. Differently from the state of the art implementation, the proposed approach has the following benefits: (i) the designed filter coefficients come ...

quickly, and using few samples in time domain, is known as the Sparse Fourier Transform (sparse FFT) problem. A long line of work on the sparse FFT has resulted in ...

Creating panoramic images has become a popular feature in modern smart phones, tablets, and digital cameras. A user can create a 360 degree field-of-view photograph from only several images. Quality of the resulting image is related to the number of source ...

The motivation to study multiscale problems such as friction and crack propagation/nucleation has triggered the development of multiscale models. The state-of-the-art multiscale models that have been developed until today are successfully applied to a vari ...

The paper presents a low power and low chip area decimation filter for a 15-bits Σ-Δ analog-to-digital converter (ADC) designed for a flywheel MEMS gyroscope. In contrary to typical solutions, in which decimation is performed after each filtering stage, in ...

In this paper we characterize and construct novel oversampled filter banks implementing fusion frames. A fusion frame is a sequence of orthogonal projection operators whose sum can be inverted in a numerically stable way. When properly designed, fusion fra ...

It is well-known that the Gaussian functions and, more generally, their modulations-translations (the Gabor functions) have the unique property of being optimally localized in space and frequency in the sense of Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. In this ...

Popular transforms, like the discrete cosine transform or the wavelet transform, owe their success to the fact that they promote sparsity. These transforms are capable of extracting the structure of a large class of signals and representing them by a few t ...

We introduce an Nth-order extension of the Riesz transform in d dimensions. We prove that this generalized transform has the following remarkable properties: shift-invariance, scale-invariance, inner-product preservation, and steerability. The pleasing con ...

In this paper, a novel circuit referred to as complex Gm-C sampler that can be used for sub-sampling IF signals is presented. The circuit employs a conventional cross-coupled Gm-C filter structure with a built-in sampler to combine th ...

We present an open-source ITK implementation of a direct Fourier method for tomographic reconstruction, applicable to parallel-beam x-ray images. Direct Fourier reconstruction makes use of the central-slice theorem to build a polar 2D Fourier space from th ...

A fast algorithm is developed for the directional correlation of scalar band-limited signals and band-limited steerable filters on the sphere. The asymptotic complexity associated to it through simple quadrature is of order O(L^5), where 2L stands for the ...

In spite of the success of the standard wavelet transform (WT) in image processing in recent years, the efficiency of its representation is limited by the spatial isotropy of its basis functions built in the horizontal and vertical directions. One-dimensio ...

In this paper, we use polyharmonic B-splines to build multidimensional wavelet bases. These functions are nonseparable, multidimensional basis functions that are localized versions of radial basis functions. We show that Rabut's elementary polyharmonic B-s ...

The recent advance of computer technology pushed the computing power of the modern computer systems to unprecedented levels; modern processors moved from the conventional, scalar type of architecture to more sophisticated, parallel ones, combining fast pro ...
