Assessing building damage after earthquakes requires a visual inspection of the damage, indicated by maps of the cracking pattern on walls, which could be standardized via automated algorithms. To quantitate this damage, fractal dimensions of these crack m ...

Two formulations embedding diclofenac sodium salt into a chitosan hydrogel matrix with different crosslinking degree were prepared by in situ hydrogelation. The formulations were investigated by polarized light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy, ...

A series of three formulations were prepared in view of experimental and theoretical investigation of their drug release potential. The morphology of the film formulations, in terms of distribution of drug into the polymeric matrix and the nature of the dr ...

Context Urbanization is the most important form of landscape change and is increasingly affecting biodiversity and ecosystem functions. Understanding how landscape patterns change in space and time is central to the evaluation of the environmental impacts ...

Significance: Despite recent developments in microscopy, temporal aliasing can arise when imaging dynamic samples. Modern sampling frameworks, such as generalized sampling, mitigate aliasing but require measurement of temporally overlapping and potentially ...

An increasing number of studies are using landscape genomics to investigate local adaptation in wild and domestic populations. The implementation of this approach requires the sampling phase to consider the complexity of environmental settings and the burd ...

A total number of 1092 embryos, originated from 168 couples that underwent IVF cycles, were analyzed in this study. The embryos were cultivated in a continuous culture and monitored using the time lapse system EmbryoScope. The microscopic images of the fer ...

In the framework of Fractal Theory of Motion for the Scale Relativity Theory with arbitrary and constant fractal dimensions, dynamics in complex systems associated to the fractal-non-fractal transition are analyzed. Working with the assumption that these d ...

The doubly Cabibbo- suppressed decay Xi(+)(c) -> p phi with ! K+K is observed for the fi rst time, with a statistical signi fi cance of more than fi fteen standard deviations. The data sample used in this analysis corresponds to an integrated luminosity of ...

The fractal dimension and lacunarity measurements of neuro-images were leveraged to differentiate between benign, biphasic and lacunarity tissue samples. For various benign and malignant subtypes, using the program developed by the authors, the fractal dim ...
