Aminoacids and peptides generally exhibit zwitterionic forms withsalt bridge (SB) structures in solution but charge-solvated (CS) motifsin the gas phase. Here, we report a study of non-covalent complexesof the protonated amino acid arginine, ArgH(+)(H2O)( ...

Activation of the dinitrogen triple bond is a crucial step in the overall fixation of atmospheric nitrogen into usable forms for industrial and biological applications. Current synthetic catalysts incorporate metal ions to facilitate the activation and cle ...

Strained nanomechanical resonators have recently achieved quality factors of 1 billion through the phenomenon of dissipation dilution. Remarkably, the potential of these devices seems unexhausted, exhibiting a scaling law of roughly one order of magnitude ...

Multimetallic cooperativity is believed to play a key role in the cleavage of dinitrogen to nitrides (N3-), but the mechanism remains ambiguous due to the lack of isolated intermediates. Herein, we report the reduction of the complex [K-2{[U-V(OSi((OBu)-Bu ...

Decades of uranium-related activities such as ore mining, nuclear power generation, weapon manufacture, storage of nuclear wastes, have contributed to the release of U in the environment. U occurrence is concerning, since in surface environments, U is typi ...

A recent 2D spinFET concept proposes to switch electrostatically between two separate sublayers with strong and opposite intrinsic Rashba effects, exploiting the spin-layer-locking mechanism in centrosymmetric materials with local dipole fields. Here, we p ...

The threat posed by the presence of artificial volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the environment is a widely acknowledged fact, both for environmental issues and human health concerns. Ever-increasing production requires the continuous development of te ...

The synthesis and reactivity of uranium compounds supported by the tris-tert-butoxysiloxide ligand is surveyed. The multiple binding modes of the tert-butoxysiloxide ligand have proven very well suited to stabilize highly reactive homo- and heteropolymetal ...

Growing large, oriented grains of perovskite often leads to efficient devices, but it is unclear if properties of the grains are responsible for the efficiency. Domains observed in SEM are commonly misidentified with crystallographic grains, but SEM images ...

Perovskite derived Ni catalysts offer the remarkable benefit of regeneration after catalyst poisoning or Ni particle growth through the reversible segregation of Ni from the perovskite-type oxide host. Although this property allows for repeated catalyst re ...

Chiral cyclopentadienyl Rh-III complexes efficiently catalyze enantioselective cyclopropanations of electron-deficient olefins with N- enoxysuccinimides as the C1 unit. Excellent asymmetric inductions and high diastereoselectivities can be obtained for a w ...

Amides are ubiquitous molecules in nature and in synthetic chemistry. Here we report a convenient and efficient method to synthesize N-aryl amides via amidation of esters with nitroarenes. In the presence of manganese metal, this amidation proceeded smooth ...

Base-induced elimination (E2) and bimolecular nucleophilic substitution (S(N)2) are two of the most versatile reactions that are important in preparative organic chemistry. These stereospecific reactions are often found in direct competition with each othe ...

The catalytic effect of nitrogen incorporation into Mo on hydrogenation (of -NO2 to -NH2 in nitrobenzene to aniline) and hydrogenolysis (of -C?O in benzaldehyde to toluene) processes has been assessed. Bulk Mo was prepared by temperature programmed reducti ...
