Realand imaginary -time quantum state evolutions are crucial in physics and chemistry for exploring quantum dynamics, preparing ground states, and computing thermodynamic observables. On near -term devices, variational quantum time evolution is a promising ...

We study the drainage of a viscous liquid film coating the outside of a solid horizontal cylinder, where gravity acts vertically. We focus on the limit of large Ohnesorge numbers Oh, where inertia is negligible compared to viscous effects. We first study t ...

The perpendicular propagation velocity of turbulent density fluctuations is an important parameter in fusion plasmas, since sheared plasma flows are crucial for reducing turbulence, and thus an essential input parameter for turbulent transport simulations. ...

The non-dimensional energy of starting vortex rings typically converges to values around 0.33 when they are created by a piston-cylinder or a bluff body translating at a constant speed. To explore the limits of the universality of this value and to analyse ...

This work presents the use of a collisional-radiative model to infer plasma parameters from 2D emissivities of several deuterium Balmer lines. The emissivities were obtained by MANTIS, an absolutely calibrated, ten-camera imaging polychromator with

We report on an application of superstatistics to particle-laden turbulent flow. Four flush-mounted hot-film wall shear sensors were used to record the fluctuations of the wall shear stress in sand-laden flow. By comparing the scaling exponent in sand-free ...

Molecule-surface collisions are known to initiate dynamics that lead to products inaccessible by thermal chemistry. These collision dynamics, however, have mostly been examined on bulk surfaces, leaving vast opportunities unexplored for molecular collision ...

We investigate the load transmission along an elastic rod of finite cross-section in contact with a rigid cylinder, as system often referred to as the generalized capstan problem. In the presence of friction, the idealized classic capstan equation predicts ...

In the nanoscale regime, flow behaviors for liquids show qualitative deviations from bulk expectations. In this work, we reveal by molecular dynamics simulations that plug flow down to nanoscale induces molecular friction that leads to a new flow structure ...

In this thesis we present the design of two setups to study low-energy collisions between neutral species: an electron velocity map imaging for chemi-ionisation reactions and a merged electrostatic guide for polar molecules scattering. In the past few yea ...

The invention concerns a device for measuring instantaneous sprint velocity, said device consisting of at least one position and/or one velocity sensor and one IMU sensor that respectively provide position and/or velocity and acceleration signals and where ...

In this thesis, an experimental study of low-temperature stereodynamics in the reactive scattering of Ne(3P2) + X collisions (X = Ar, Kr, Xe, CO and N2) is presented. The steric effect of Ne(3P2) in these reactions is observed experimentally using a contro ...

This paper presents preliminary results of an experimental study on the occurrence and development of the upper part-load instability in a reduced-scale Francis turbine. The study includes draft tube pressure measurements, high-speed flow visualization, an ...

Chemical reaction dynamics are studied to monitor and understand the concerted motion of several atoms while they rearrange from reactants to products. When the number of atoms involved increases, the number of pathways, transition states and product chann ...

Carboxymethyl cellulose/copper oxide-nickel oxide (CMC/CuO-NiO) nanocomposite beads were prepared by facile, simple and environmentally friendlymethod. Initially, CuO-NiOwas prepared and applied for the catalytic reduction of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP). The resu ...

Non-adiabatic electron response leads to significant changes in ion temperature gradient (ITG) eigenmodes, leading, in particular, to fine-structures that are significantly extended along the magnetic field lines at corresponding mode rational surfaces (MR ...

The chemi-ionization of Ar, Kr, N2, H2, and D2 by Ne(3P2) and of Ar, Kr, and N2 by He(3S1) was studied by electron velocity map imaging (e-VMI) in a crossed molecular beam experiment. A curved magnetic hexapole was used to state-select the metastable speci ...

We introduce a novel hybrid algorithm to simulate the real-time evolution of quantum systems using parameterized quantum circuits. The method, named "projected - Variational Quantum Dynamics" (p-VQD) realizes an iterative, global projection of the exact ti ...

A four-dimensional plasma model able to describe the scrape-off layer region of tokamak devices at arbitrary collisionality is derived in the drift-reduced limit. The basis of the model is provided by a drift-kinetic equation that retains the full nonlinea ...

Dataset abstract The ship's cruise track, velocity, course over ground and heading at one-minute resolution for all five legs of the Antarctic Circumnavigation Expedition (ACE) are derived from a combination of: - the latitude/longitud ...
