Halide perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have achieved power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) approaching 26%, however, the stability issue hinders their commercialization. Due to the soft ionic nature of perovskite materials, the strain effect on perovskite fil ...

Edge-based and face-based smoothed finite element methods (ES-FEM and FS-FEM, respectively) are modified versions of the finite element method allowing to achieve more accurate results and to reduce sensitivity to mesh distortion, at least for linear eleme ...

Latest embedded bio-signal analysis applications, targeting low-power Wireless Body Sensor Nodes (WBSNs), present conflicting requirements. On one hand, bio-signal analysis applications are continuously increasing their demand for high computing capabiliti ...

The objective of meta-learning is to exploit knowledge obtained from observed tasks to improve adaptation to unseen tasks. Meta-learners are able to generalize better when they are trained with a larger number of observed tasks and with a larger amount of ...

Flood prediction in ungauged catchments is usually conducted by hydrological models that are parameterized based on nearby and similar gauged catchments. As an alternative to this process-based modelling, deep learning (DL) models have demonstrated their a ...

Copper-silver (Cu-Ag) core-shell nanoparticles are promising for replacing the silver particles and flakes used in printed conductors in current solar cells since they deliver good conductivity, chemical stability, and optical performance, while also reduc ...

We study the source coding problem in sensor networks deployed to monitor the evolution of spatio-temporal temperature distributions. The sensors sample the temperature field, quantize the samples and transmit the encoded samples through digital channels t ...

The projection of sample measurements onto a reconstruction space represented by a basis on a regular grid is a powerful and simple approach to estimate a probability density function. In this paper, we focus on Riesz bases and propose a projection operato ...

Despite major advances in the engineering of maintainable and robust software over the years, upgrading software remains a primitive and error-prone activity. In this dissertation, we argue that several problems with upgrading software are caused by a poor ...

Coronavirus (COVID-19), a deadly pandemic has spread worldwide and created many global health issues. Though methods of its detection are being continuously developed for the early detection and monitoring of COVID-19, still there is need for more novel me ...

The concept of a multi-source inverter (MSI) based on NPC topology was recently introduced for hybrid-electric powertrains to connect several dc sources to the traction load in a single conversion stage without magnetics. This work proposes a new modulatio ...

Formally proving complex program properties is still considered impractical for systems with over a million lines of code (MLOC). We present iProve, an approach that enables the generation and verification of proofs for interesting program properties in la ...
