In this paper, we set the mathematical foundations of the Dynamical Low-Rank Approximation (DLRA) method for stochastic differential equations (SDEs). DLRA aims at approximating the solution as a linear combination of a small number of basis vectors with r ...

Given two elliptic curves and the degree of an isogeny between them, finding the isogeny is believed to be a difficult problem—upon which rests the security of nearly any isogeny-based scheme. If, however, to the data above we add information about the beh ...

We initiate the study of certain families of L-functions attached to characters of subgroups of higher-rank tori, and of their average at the central point. In particular, we evaluate the average of the values L( 2 1 , chi a )L( 21 , chi b ) for arbitrary ...

The Super-X Divertor (SXD) is an alternative divertor configuration leveraging total flux expansion at the Outer Strike Point (OSP). While the extended 2-Point Model (2PM) predicts facilitated detachment access and control in the SXD configuration, these a ...

We prove the non-planarity of a family of 3-regular graphs constructed from the solutions to the Markoff equation x2 + y2 + z2 = xyz modulo prime numbers greater than 7. The proof uses Euler characteristic and an enumeration of the short cycles in these gr ...

Pyroelectricity in a recently developed all-organic composite electret with a polar polynorbornene-based filler and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) matrix has been studied with the help of thermal and dielectric techniques. Measurement of the pyroelectric p co ...

Let G be a finite subgroup of SU(4) such that its elements have age at most one. In the first part of this paper, we define K-theoretic stable pair invariants on a crepant resolution of the affine quotient C4/G, and conjecture a closed formula for their ge ...

In this text, we will show the existence of lattice packings in a family of dimensions by employing division algebras. This construction is a generalization of Venkatesh's lattice packing result Venkatesh (Int Math Res Notices 2013(7): 1628-1642, 2013). In ...

In this thesis we consider the problem of estimating the correlation of Hecke eigenvalues of GL2 automorphic forms with a class of functions of algebraic origin defined over finite fields called trace functions. The class of trace functions is vast and inc ...

It is well-known that for any integral domain R, the Serre conjecture ring R(X), i.e., the localization of the univariate polynomial ring R[X] at monic polynomials, is a Bezout domain of Krull dimension

Let k be a field, and let L be an etale k-algebra of finite rank. If a is an element of k(x), let X-a be the affine variety defined by N-L/k(x) = a. Assuming that L has at least one factor that is a cyclic field extension of k, we give a combinatorial desc ...

Let h be a connective homology theory. We construct a functorial relative plus construction as a Bousfield localization functor in the category of maps of spaces. It allows us to associate to a pair (X,H), consisting of a connected space X and an hperfect ...

We investigate generalizations along the lines of the Mordell-Lang conjecture of the author's p-adic formal Manin-Mumford results for n-dimensional p-divisible formal groups F. In particular, given a finitely generated subgroup (sic) of F(Q(p)) and a close ...

A kernel method for estimating a probability density function from an independent and identically distributed sample drawn from such density is presented. Our estimator is a linear combination of kernel functions, the coefficients of which are determined b ...

Given a hyperelliptic hyperbolic surface S of genus g >= 2, we find bounds on the lengths of homologically independent loops on S. As a consequence, we show that for any lambda is an element of (0, 1) there exists a constant N(lambda) such that every such ...

We prove that the coefficients of a GL3 x GL2 Rankin-Selberg L-function do not correlate with a wide class of trace functions of small conductor modulo primes, generalizing the corresponding result of Fouvry, Kowalski, and Michel for GL2 and of Kowalski, L ...

Reduced-order models are indispensable for multi-query or real-time problems. However, there are still many challenges to constructing efficient ROMs for time-dependent parametrized problems. Using a linear reduced space is inefficient for time-dependent n ...

The classical Lagrangian of the Standard Model enjoys the symmetry of the full conformal group if the mass of the Higgs boson is put to zero. This is a hint that conformal symmetry may play a fundamental role in the ultimate theory describing nature. The o ...

Isogeometric analysis is a powerful paradigm which exploits the high smoothness of splines for the numerical solution of high order partial differential equations. However, the tensor-product structure of standard multivariate B-spline models is not well s ...

The next generation of high-energy physics (HEP) detectors will predominantly be silicon-based. As pixel sensor technology gains momentum and the number of channels surpasses one billion (for a volume of approximately 20 m3) to achieve the high resolution ...
