Peripheral neural interfaces have been successfully used in the recent past to restore sensory-motor functions in disabled subjects and for the neuromodulation of the autonomic nervous system. The optimization of these neural interfaces is crucial for ethi ...

Spinal cord injury (SCI) disrupts communication within central nervous system and lead to range of neurological disorders including paralysis. Current rehabilitation strategies to restore locomotion are poorly effective in people with severe SCI. Epidural ...

Implantable electronic medical device (IEMD) is an emerging technology that plays an important role in the treatment of several neurological disorders such as epilepsy, especially in the cases of drug-resistant epilepsy. Recent developments and studies sho ...

One of the goals of the Neural Engineering System Design (NESD) program in the United States and of similar programs around the world is to develop an interface able to read from one million neurons in parallel. This is well beyond the capabilities of trad ...

Although peripheral nerve stimulation using intraneural electrodes has been shown to be an effective and reliable solution to restore sensory feedback after hand loss, there have been no reports on the characterization of multi-channel stimulation. A deepe ...

Neuroprosthetics are a class of medical devices that aim to restore lost or impaired functions of the nervous system by electrical stimulation or recording of neural tissue. State of the art neural implants suffer today from a mechanical mismatch compared ...

The present disclosure refers to systems for electrical neurostimulation of a spinal cord of a subject in need of nervous system function support. In one example, a system comprises a signal processing device configured to receive signals from the subject ...

The present invention refers to a system for stimulation of the spinal cord for the rehabilitation of motor function in subjects with spinal cord injury or other motor disorders. Said system comprises a programmable implantable pulse generator (IPG), opera ...

Objective. In many applications, multielectrode arrays employed as neural implants require a high density and a high number of electrodes to precisely record and stimulate the activity of the nervous system while preserving the overall size of the array as ...

Introduction: Many studies have shown that electrostimulation of the cavernosal nerve can induce and maintain penile erection. Based on these discoveries, neurostimulation to activate the erectile response has been considered a potential solution to treat ...

Reducing the mechanical mismatch between the stiffness of a neural implant and the softness of the neural tissue is still an open challenge in neuroprosthetics. The emergence of conductive hydrogels in the last few years has considerably widened the spectr ...
