The microstructure evolution associated with the cold forming sequence of an Fe-14Cr-1W-0.3Ti-0.3Y2O3 grade ferritic stainless steel strengthened by dispersion of nano oxides (ODS) was investigated. The material, initially hot extruded at 1100 degrees C an ...

We investigate the magnetic structure and magnetoelectric(ME) effect in the high -field phase of the antiferromagnet LiFePO 4 above the critical field of 31 T. A neutron diffraction study in pulsed magnetic fields reveals the propagation vector to be q = 0 ...

As large, data-driven artificial intelligence models become ubiquitous, guaranteeing high data quality is imperative for constructing models. Crowdsourcing, community sensing, and data filtering have long been the standard approaches to guaranteeing or imp ...

Conducting neutron scattering experiments in the presence of high pulsed magnetic fields, namely above 40 T, provides valuable information about the magnetic structures of materials. However, these experiments are challenging and time-consuming because the ...

To characterize in detail the charge density wave (CDW) transition of 1T-VSe2, its electronic structure and lattice dynamics are comprehensively studied by means of x-ray diffraction, muon spectroscopy, angle resolved photoemission (ARPES), diffuse and ine ...

We propose a novel approach to evaluating the ionic Seebeck coefficient in electrolytes from relatively short equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations, based on the Green-Kubo theory of linear response and Bayesian regression analysis. By exploiting the ...

In the rapidly expanding field of topological materials there is growing interest in systems whose topological electronic band features can be induced or controlled by magnetism. Magnetic Weyl semimetals, which contain linear band crossings near the Fermi ...

We demonstrate the use of both pixelated differential phase contrast (DPC) scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) and off-axis electron holography (EH) for the measurement of electric fields and assess the advantages and limitations of each techn ...

Me3+8Ge, being a Weyl semimetal, shows a large anomalous Hall effect (AHE), which decreases slowly with an increase in 8 from 0.1 to 0.4. However, AHE in this compound remains significantly large in the whole range of 8 because of the robust nature of the ...

BackgroundAging in postmitotic tissues is associated with clonal expansion of somatic mitochondrial deletions, the origin of which is not well understood. Such deletions are often flanked by direct nucleotide repeats, but this alone does not fully explain ...

Carbon nanostructures formed through physical synthesis come in a variety of sizes and shapes. With the end goal of rationalizing synthetic pathways of carbon nanostructures as a function of tunable parameters in the synthesis, we investigate how the initi ...

Thescalable synthesis of high-temperature H-2-sieving membranesfor energy-efficient carbon capture can potentiallyenable the implementation of precombustion carbon capture at a rapidpace. ...

The screening arising from many-body excitations is a crucial quantity for describing absorption and inelastic X-ray scattering (IXS) of materials. Similarly, the electron screening plays a critical role in state-of-the-art approaches for determining the f ...

Two related methods for inverting line-integrated measurements are presented in this research paper in the context of the recent deuterium-tritium experiments in the JET tokamak. Unlike traditional methods of tomography, these methods rely on making use of ...

Structure determination of amorphous materials remains challenging, owing to the disorder inherent to these materials. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) powder crystallography is a powerful method to determine the structure of molecular solids, but disorder ...

Structure determination of materials is key to understanding their physical properties. While single-crystal X-ray diffraction is the gold standard for structures displaying long-range order, many materials of interest are polycrystalline and/or disordered ...

We report a combined polarized and unpolarized neutron diffraction study on a multiferroic Sr2CoSi2O7 (SCSO) single crystal below and above the antiferromagnetic ordering temperature TN = 6.5 K. Unpolarized neutron diffraction measurements at 15 K confirm ...

Distributionally robust chance constrained programs minimize a deterministic cost function subject to the satisfaction of one or more safety conditions with high probability, given that the probability distribution of the uncertain problem parameters affec ...

YMgNi4-based alloys exhibit reversible hydrogen absorption and desorption reactions at near room temperature. Here, we report that Co-substituted YMgNi4-based alloys exhibited higher hydrogen contents and lower hydrogen absorption and desorption reaction p ...

Although W. L. Bragg's law can be easily derived for beginners in the field of crystallography, its interpretation however seems to cause some difficulties which lies essentially in the relation between the concept of lattice planes and the unit cell const ...
